*Knock Knock*

...

"Is she gonna answer?" Kel, still impatient as all hell, bops up and down as the five of us wait outside Aubrey's house.

"Hold your horses, Kel." Hero knocks this time.

"So, how are we doing this? I mean, it's 𝐀𝐮𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐲 we're talking about." I'm genuinely curious, cause I'm sure if we go in without a plan, this will probably all go to shit.

"I'll be the one to tell her." Mari grins, holding up a thumbs up, "She's closest with me."

"That's probably for the best." Sunny smirks, trying to keep the mood light.

The door creeks open to Aubrey, who's face immediately turns from a frustrated to a concerned one.

"Yes? Why..." she darts her eyes between all of us, "is everyone here??"

"It important. We need to tell you something." Kel covered his mouth right after, realizing that Mari was supposed to initiate the conversation.

"Uh... come in... I guess?" The door squeaks as she steps back, letting go of the handle.

Aubrey moves out of the way, letting us go first to her room.

Personally, I've never been in her house before, even though I can recall the stuff that Aubrey has had to go through.

We reach her room, in the attic. It had posters and drawings scattered around the walls, and they're a pet bunny in a cage.

"Soo..." she sits down on her bed, "What's up?"

Mari looks at me. I nod in assurance.

She sits down next to Aubrey, putting a hand on her shoulder. Mari is known for being calm and collected, especially in situations this extreme.

"We have something to tell you, but... please try and promise you won't get mad?" Mari does those begging cat eyes, similar to Hero's puppy face.

"O... Okay?" She looks at the four of us, lost.

"Remember how Basil and Kel used to be together?" Mari stands up, walking over to me.

"Yeah? ... Where's this going?" Aubrey cocks her head.

"Well, I think Basil should be the one to tell you." She pushes me forward, totally going against the plan. I give her a nasty glare, and she just gives me a smug look.

I let out a deep sigh, knowing I can't get out of this now.

"I'm pregnant." No matter how many times I say it, it still seems surreal.

   Me? A trans boy, pregnant?

"You're... fucking joking... right?" Aubrey lifts both eyebrows.

"It's true." Mari hugs me, holding her hands around my abdomen, "He wants to keep it."

"I..." she laughs, probably in utter disbelief.

Then, her face quickly fades into one of pure anger.

"Aubrey..." Mari warns, seeing the change in her expression.

"You..." She pointed at Kel, and we all knew where this was gonna go if I didn't speak up soon.

"It wasn't his fault. It was both of ours, it was just an accident." I put a foot down, shaking off Mari from her grip around me.

I could tell, she's visibly trying to keep her cool, breathing in and out deeply.

"So..." Aubrey says with some sass in her tone, "what now...?"

"We scheduled him to another gynecologist, where they will check it's health."

"Mmm..." she curls her fingers to her palms, looking like she's gonna take a swing at someone, "another?"

"Long story." I fumble over my words.

"Hmm... how many months in?" She smiles, but it's clearly forced and stingy.

"About three." Kel sighs, probably also overwhelmed.

"Dude." She frowns once more, "Are you sure I'm not allowed to punch Kel?"

"Nope! No violence!" Mari sits back down near Aubrey, who is so close to snapping.

She grumbles, "ffffine." She holds out that f sound, making her sound extra pissed.

"Okay!" Mari claps her hands together contently, "Now that that's taken care of, who wants to go out to get something to eat?"

"I'm starvvving!!!" Kel leans up against Hero, who ruffles his hair, "I am too."

Sunny nods in agreement, and Aubrey scoffs.

   "Sure, whatever."
