18: Questions and cravings

We arrive at Gino's Pizza, opening the door that makes a little chime sound.

Kel immediately dashes to the tables, impatiently sitting down and bouncing his leg, "Im soooooo hungry!!"

Aubrey sighs, facepalming.

"What do you want to eat, Basil?" Sunny turns towards me.

"Hm... well, I don't want anything too unhealthy... but..." I look at the menu, glancing around at the areas I wouldn't normally look at.

"Hmm... I think I want a pepperoni pizza."

Everyone does a double take.

"Wha- huh? I though you hated pepperoni pizza...?" Kel calls out from the tables.

"I don't know... I kinda want it right now..." I don't even know the words that are coming out of my mouth. Pepperoni pizza?? I 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐞 pepperoni.

But for some reason... I kinda want it.

"Hm." Hero orders it anyways, even after my surprising choice.

   Mari and Aubrey sit down at the table, and Mari exhales deeply, "It's been a while since we've all been together like this."

   "Exactly. Although, I didn't know we would be meeting under these circumstances..." Aubrey shoots a death glare at Kel, who puts his hands up.

   I set myself down on one of the chairs, setting my head in my hands.

   "You okay, Basil?" Hero walks over with the pizza, setting it down in front of us.

   "I'm just anxious about tomorrow." Not even bothering to make up a half assed lie, I just spill the truth.

   "Oh, the ultrasound, right?" Hero doesn't frown, he smiles instead.

   "Yep." I'm too busy to look at him, I just stare at my hands.

"It'll be okay." Mari tries to comfort me.

"I'm just scared."

"It's understandable to be. But just know, you've got all of us, okay?"

I sit and think on that for a moment.

All of my friends... they're with me.

"Okay... yeah." Grinning, I pick up the pizza, shoving a slice in my mouth.

   Everyone just stares at me intently.

   Sure, it tastes like ass, as it always has to me, but I can't help but keep eating it.

   I probably look to everyone like I'm in my own little world, chowing down on the slice of pizza. Everyone is probably so fucking confused, and I am too.

   Then, my body seems to act without me thinking, because I take the crust of said slice and dip it into a little container of ketchup.

   Sunny holds his mouth in shock, and Kel covered his eyes. The rest just look baffled.

   I eat it, and holy shit, it kinda tastes good.

   After finishing the slice, I come back to my senses, realizing everyone is just staring at me.

   "Dude." Kel slams his hands down on the table, "That was weird as fuck."

   Actually, the aftertaste makes me wanna puke, and now I regret doing that.

   Definitely regret it.

   Mari taps her chin, looking perplexed.

   "It's probably pregnancy cravings." Aubrey crosses her arms, leaning back.
