CHAPTER VI

SUNDAY
————————————————————AFTER SPENDING SOME TIME AT SATORU'S PENTHOUSE SHARING STORIES OF WHEN WE WERE KIDS, it started getting late and the thought of waking up tomorrow to go to work plagued my mind.
"Suguru and I almost got expelled for that, that day was pretty crazy." he had a dreamy expression on his face, but I was still focused on his eyes.
"Satoru...it's starting to get late and I have to go to work tomorrow." I sighed with a frown, and he was understandably also upset.
I felt guilty for willingly wanting to leave, but if I wanted to clean my apartment and wake up early tomorrow, I would have to get home now.
"It was nice to have you over, come let me take you home." he smiled and we both walked to the door, but before we left, Megumi left his room and walked into the kitchen.
"Bye bye L/n, nice meeting you." he nodded at me and I smiled at him, waving my hand with a happy goodbye, and he had a small smile tugging at his cheeks.
"I'll be back now, I'm just dropping her off at home," Satoru told him and we left the penthouse together, entering the elevator and walking out into the underground parking.
"You're alone at work tomorrow, no Suguru to call you gorgeous." he teased me and I laughed at his comment, dying internally over the nickname once again.
"Oh, what will I do...if only some white knight could come and break me out of my shackles!" I acted dramatic and he seemed to play along.
"Maybe that white knight will come and save you...who knows." he chuckled as we both got into the car and began driving, I gave him my house address and he followed the GPS.
"I like your kid, he's a bit quiet though," I mentioned, thinking back to my few interactions with Megumi. However, Satoru scoffed humorously.
"The little shit has a bit of a temper too." he shook his head in disapproval, though I could help but laugh at his opinion of his own son.
"He's lucky to have you regardless." I smiled at him and he agreed with me, which was a rewarding feeling.
The nervousness I once felt around him has long vanished, however, a new feeling is simmering at the bottom of my stomach, but I can't quite pinpoint what type of feeling it is."This is your building right?" Satoru asked, parking the car in front of it and I had a frown on my face since I didn't want to go home.
"Thanks for dropping me off at home, Satoru, I hope I can see you soon-" I said as I opened the door and let myself out but he cut me off.
"You're not going in alone! I'm walking you in silly." he got out of the driver's seat and walked with me inside my apartment building.
We reached the elevator and I began panicking internally, remembering the state my apartment is in currently.
Now I don't want him to drop me off at my door."I should be thanking you for today, Y/n," Satoru spoke up and I had a smile on my face from the kind comment.
"Other way around-" I answered gratefully but he cut me off before I could continue.
"Nuh-uh, gorgeous." he had a playful smirk on him and I looked away in embarrassment.
"Don't call me that." I giggled at the nickname that now two men have learnt to call me."Take the fucking compliment." he laughed and nudged my shoulder.
"It's a compliment now? Not a name?" I teased him and he smiled cheekily.
The elevator doors opened and we began walking to my apartment, and I felt nervous about him seeing the state of it as we arrived at the door.
"Thank you, Satoru, really." I smiled at him and went in for a hug, wrapping my arms around his neck and I felt his hands on my hips.
I melted into the hug, exhaling deeply, feeling relieved.
He held me close, swaying slightly in the embrace.
I rested my head on his shoulder and smiled to myself.
We both pulled away unfortunately and I stood by my closed door awkwardly."Not going to invite me in? You can't end the date there." he chuckled and my cheeks flushed another colour over his sudden boldness.
"It was a date?!" my eyebrows furrowed and he looked just as confused as I was, but a gut feeling told me he was messing with me.
"It wasn't?" he tried to say seriously, but a smile cracked on his face and I immediately knew he was teasing.
"My apartment is a mess right now, Satoru, I desperately need to clean it." I frowned in disappointment but he seemed understanding.
"Another time then. I'll see you tomorrow, Y/n," he said happily and hugged me again before leaving through the elevator.
I stood by my door, staring at the elevator longingly but with a smile, I unlocked my door, entering my apartment that definitely wasn't suitable for guests.
But none of that mattered right now.
I jumped around excitedly, thinking of the day I had.It wasn't revolutionary, yet still the same time it was! It was a complete change of scenery for me, and all I did was have breakfast and go to a penthouse.
I got to know Gojo better, even if Suguru wasn't there; maybe it was the best if it wasn't.
Maybe it was fated to turn out like that, fated for him to get called back into work during breakfast.I didn't feel the need to pretend anymore, I didn't have to act like another person to be accepted by my peers.
I could be myself, say what I want, and do what I want.It was refreshing, almost felt like a new start.
A good one, a good start.A second try at living life.
A SECOND TRY AT LIVING.
