My stomach feels like it's turning every way but loose as I get ready for my date with Jabari.
Ti and Vicky are off campus so it's just me, myself, and my Kehlani playlist getting ready.
After I finish my makeup and curling my hair, I receive a text from Jabari saying he was outside. I spray my perfume a few times and pick up my purse leaving out the door.
As I walked outside, I see Jabari leaning on his car, all into his phone. He looks up while I was approaching and says, "Wow, you look amazing,"
Smiling, I respond, "Thank you, it's just something slight."
He comes in for a hug and I give him one, taking in his cologne. Mmm he smelled soooo good.
I reach for the car door and Jabari says, "Woah, what you doing?"
"Um, I'm getting in the car."
"You not going to be opening doors around me," he says while opening the car door.
"Thank you."
The car ride was a bit quiet for the first few minutes, with us exchanging a few glances here and there. His car was clean which was good since I've heard you can tell a lot about people from how the inside of their car looks.
Jabari finally breaks the silence by saying, "Your mom is funny."
I couldn't start off lying to him already so I admit, "Thanks but she's not actually my mom."
"I thought you said she was?"
"I did, but she's not my biological mom. Not even my adopted mom, but she's kinda like a mom to me? I don't know what a having a mom feels like so I don't know..."
"Oh, if you don't mind me asking, have you met your biological parents?"
"No. They gave me up for adoption but I went back to the foster home. The agency found out the family was neglecting me after doing a home visit."
"Oh....so do you know anything about them?"
"Nah. There's this confidentiality agreement between them and the people that were neglecting me so I don't know anything really."
"Why don't you go ask them for more information about your biological parents?"
"Hmm, I never thought about that... but I don't know. I used to wonder about them a lot but now, it is what it is. I do have a lot of questions for them if I ever meet them though."
Jabari nods and parks the car, looking over at me. "I fasho thought Angela was your mom's by how overprotective she was of you. Then you two kinda look alike."
"Everyone says that for some reason. We don't really see it though."
"I don't know how," he says while getting out the car and opening my door.
The restaurant we pulled up to was called Krave. I've heard some good reviews about it from Ti but this would be my first time trying it.
