As I sat in front of my mirror, my hands were trembling as I tried to do my makeup. I've been waiting for this moment for so long but now that it's here, I can't even comprehend it's happening.
What is she going to be like? What...what is she even going to say? Would I finally get the answers I've been looking for?
I reach over on my desk to pick up my setting spray but spot a polaroid picture Angela had took of me at her house. I remember the exact day she took it...
"So, let me see this assignment you need help with."
"Okay, one second."
I hopped up on the counter and opened my laptop to find the assignment.
"Honey, look over here for a second."
Glancing up, I saw a quick flash and Angela holding the Polaroid camera smiling.
"Why are you are always taking pictures," I asked laughing.
She takes the Polaroid out and replies, "Because these are memories and I can take as many pictures as I want!"
"You are so embarrassing! But...can I see the picture?"
"Oh noooo. You call me embarrassing but want to see the picture?"
"Pleaseeee?"
"Mmm, fine."
Angela leans next to me and holds the picture out for both of us to see. "You're so beautiful..." she'd said softly with her voice being so warm and sincere.
I pull myself back to the present and sigh after remembering everything that happened between us. All I wanted was to tell her about meeting my biological mom, hoping she would understand, but it became so complicated for no reason.
It's like she wanted to keep me away from meeting her for some reason...
Shaking my head, I turn the picture face down and try not to reminisce about it. That part of my life, whatever it was with Angela, didn't matter right now. What matters is today...

The restaurant Keri and I had decided to meet at was a Japanese and sushi bar. I don't really eat sushi unless it's cooked but I did like hibachi so I didn't mind.
As I entered the restaurant, my eyes scanned around to see if she was already there.
"Mam, do you have a reservation or would you like a table to wait for your other guest?"
"Oh um yes, I have a reservation with Keri Williams."
The hostess looks at the seating chart and nods. "Yes, right this way."
We go towards the back of the restaurant and the walk to the table felt so long yet nerve wrecking,
We finally reach the table and there she was; the same woman from all the pictures was sitting right in front of me in the flesh. She didn't see me yet since she was deeply in her phone but I could tell she was nervous as well by the way she was shaking her leg.
"Mrs. Williams, your plus one has arrived."
The moment she looks up at me, her eyes had gotten so big and her mouth slightly opens. I walk closer to the table and she stands up slowly to greet me. We were nearly the same height.
