After class, the three of us decided to go to the library to discuss our project. I really didn't want to go with them but for the sake of my grade I agreed.
Before starting, the white girl which I found out was named Vicky, wanted to go to Starbucks before we worked on our project. The stereotype of white girls liking Starbucks must be true by the way she asked us so quickly.
"Hi, can I get a Venti vanilla bean creme frappucino with strawberry purée added?"
"Yes, it's coming right up. Can I have your name?"
"Vicky."
"Alright that will be $5.23."
She pays the cashier as she writes her name on the cup. While we were waiting, someone comes behind Vicky and taps her shoulder. "Vickkkk!"
Vicky turns around and begins smiling as soon as she notices the girl. "Oh my god, Hannah! You look so good! How are you doing?"
She was pretty and her makeup gave what it was supposed to, but where was she going this early in the morning like this?
"I'm doing beautiful just living my best life." Hannah flips her hair and begins sipping on her drink.
"Oh wow, your purse is beautiful."
"Thank you, it's Vivienne Westwood. I caught it on sale for only $800 dollars I think? I can't really remember."
Vicky's mouth suddenly drops. "Only $800?!? You dropping almost a band for a purse now sis?"
Continuing to look at my phone, I start to listen in on their conversation.
"Well, you know my parents didn't want me coming to a HBCU anyways so they stopped paying for me after I told them I wasn't going to transfer."
Both my eyes and Ti's locked at each other from Hannah's statement about her parents but we go back to what were doing; listening and getting the tea.
"I couldn't find a job on campus soooo I started using the SugarMe Please app."
"Order for Vicky!"
Vicky takes her frappe from the barista and turns back to Hannah. "The what now?"
"SugarMe Please. It's an app that when you date or talk with older people, they give you money. It's similar to Instagram so you can post pictures and stories to."
Ti chimes in asking, "So you basically a sugar baby?"
"Yea, but you don't have to give up sugar to some people if you know what I mean. A lot of people just want someone to talk to and there's a lot of opportunities other than just money."
"Like?"
"I get to travel, network with people in my future career field, and I'm always getting gifts. Are you guys interested? I can tell you all about it!"
