"What about this?" Angela picks up a red and yellow pleated skirt and shows it to me.
"Eh, I'm not really feeling it."
"Ok, ok." Not too long after, she picks up a blue and white striped dress and a pair of heels to match. "I think this would look nice on you, what do you think?"
I look up and see Angela grinning as she puts the dress up to me. Damn, she is really enjoying this. "It's cute but I don't know. I'm not a dress type of girl..."
"Every woman needs a dress for different occasions...What if you just try it on to see what you think?"
"Mhm, okay."
She hands me the dress as I go in the dressing room. I slip on the dress and look in the mirror. The dress was nice and bought out some curves I didn't even know I had. However, I'm still having mixed feelings.
I come out the dressing room to show her the dress. "Soo, what you think," I ask.
She observes me up and down and places a smile on her face. "I like it. It insinuates your body shape well and looks really nice on you. You could wear this to lunch or an outside event. Just something casual you know?"
"Yea another thing is...I can't walk in these."
Angela chuckles saying, "Let me help you. Start by straightening out your back to stand tall."
I follow her directions and she takes my hand, beginning to walk with me. "When you walk, walk heel to toe. You may have to think about it at first but it will become natural later."
Nodding, we walk around the empty dressing room. "I think you're getting it slowly but surely. What do you think of the outfit?"
"I don't know, I kinda like it but this is different for me..."
"Maybe it's because you're stepping a bit out of your comfort zone but that's okay sometimes. You look great though Omerettà."
Before I could respond, her phone begins to ring.
"Excuse me, let me take this phone call really quick."
"Ok." I go back in the dressing room and continue to feel the dress out, turning to look at every angle. Shit, I look good.
While I continue observing myself, I overhear some of Angela's conversation.
"Yes, I'm shopping with her now....yes, you told me that already. Stop worrying, she's really sweet and so precious Kat. Then she's a Finance major...I know I said the same thing."
Damn she telling people about me? I change back into my clothes and come out with the dress and heels.
Angela glances up at me as I come out the dressing room and tells the person, "Yea, but I have to go now, I'll call you later."
"You don't see anything you like?"
"No, this isn't really my type of store."
"Oh, alright, well I guess the dress and heels is all I want."
She nods and I could see her trying to hold back a smile. It's crazy how she got me wearing different stuff, but I kinda...like it?
The cashier rings up the clothes and looks at the bags I was holding asking, "Shopping spree with mom I see?"
We both say in unison, "No."
The cashier widens her eyes. "Oh I'm so sorry, you two look so much alike."
Angela glances over at me as if she was examining to see if we actually did. However she turns back to the cashier, giving her a fake grin and handing her the card.
After she pays and we leave the mall, we ride back to campus and things were back awkward.
"I've had a nice time with you today again, but I have to let you know I will be out of town this week for some business. If you just want to talk or need anything, I'm one phone call away."
I nod and reply with, "Okay, thank you again." I try to pick up and carry all the bags from the mall but it was way too many.
"Do you need help with any of your bags?"
"Yes please."
She takes some of the bags and I lead the way to my room. As soon as I opened my door to my room, she started glancing at everything.
"I know I need to clean up a little bit but I wasn't expecting visitors."
"Oh it's fine." Her eyes keep wandering until she spots my sewing machine and fabrics. "Wow, you really do design clothes."
I wrap the fabrics up that were lying out and say, "What, you thought I was lying?"
"N-no, well...just a little. Where's your roommate?"
"Damnnn, I see how it is but it's just a hobby. And I don't know, she's not in the room much but that's fine with me."
Angela chuckles and continues to look around before spotting a canvas painting I had. "What is this a painting of?"
"It's Greece, I always wanted to go. The pictures I always see are so pretty to me."
She smiles softly and nods, placing my picture back. "It is beautiful."
Out of nowhere, Angela leans on my desk, looking out the window at the parking lot. "These students have some nice cars out here, better than what I had as a college student. What kind of cars do you like Omerettá?"
"I don't know, I never really looked at any." With my last sentence I mumble, "It doesn't matter because I never really learned how to drive..."
She turns to me widening her eyes in shock. "No one taught you how to drive?"
"No, my friend let me drive some but I was about to wreck her car and ever since then I never tried anymore."
Angela shakes her head in disbelief until she says, "What if I teach you?"
"Really?"
"Yes, it shouldn't be that hard. How about this, I teach you when I come back from my business trip which is next weekend."
I could feel myself getting excited but I try to hide it by saying, "Okay, that's fine."
"Alright, I'll see you later. Remember what I told you now by getting in touch with me if you need anything."
I nod and surprisingly she tries to give me a hug but I don't like people touching on me like that!
Backing up a bit I say, "Sorry, I just don't like being hugged on..."
"Okay um....well I'll see you later!"
