Walker's POV
I feel awkward in the waiting room waiting for all the potential Autumns to walk in. So far I've done chemistry auditions with 9 girls and each didn't seem like the right Autumn. But right now I'm waiting for girl number 10 to walk in. I read the name under the number.
Hailie Jones
I recognize the name instantly she's not incredibly famous but she could for sure be considered an upcoming actor. I know her from the movies she's done with the Avengers.
I hear footsteps come closer to the door and she steps in with jeans and a sweater, she looks noticeably different from all her projects, a lot older, more mature, and she's stunning. Not a standard stunning but the type of stunning that makes you believe that the world is spinning just for her existence. That type of stunning.
I realized I was staring for a couple of seconds and had to quickly recover, from the awkwardness.
"Hello, I'm Walker Scobell." I greet.
"Hey Walker, I'm Hallie."
We start the auditions with the scripts they gave us, I read off the bits and parts and she does as well. It felt so natural like it was meant to happen. I'm convinced that she's born to play this role. Her improvised movements and the way she expresses emotions through her beautiful brown eyes were so mesmerizing. The casting directors were impressed as well.
"That was great! Now we would like to see something improvised right now, something you think your characters might do." The director called out.
Now I thought 'right now' was too sudden and it startled me a little, but Hallie started the improvisation for me.
"Hey, Finn,"
"Hey Autumn," I moved my eyes as I watched her move across the room "New tiara today?" I asked because I thought it seemed fitting.
"Mhmm" She nodded "Today I got the red one," she pointed to the red gems on her imaginary tiara. In the books, Autumn wore one every day.
"It's nice," I tell her
"Thanks, Finn, I'm going to read, I'm almost done with my book it's beautifully written but sad." She expressed what I thought was incredibly smart of her to say considering the book we are based on is beautifully written but sad and Autumn also happens to love reading.
"AND DONE!" I heard the directors yell, they looked satisfied but you can never tell. I watch Hailie as she walks out the door, she is amazing and no matter who else walks through that same door could not be nearly as good as her.
"That was good Walker, I loved how you followed all her movements with your eyes, that was good." The director gave me a thumbs-up.
"Thank you, sir," I say but I know I didn't mean to follow her with my eyes. I just wanted to look at her and take in every moment. My character Finny is supposed to be in love with Autumn, he just doesn't tell Autumn or anyone because she has a boyfriend and he has a girlfriend and he doesn't think he has a chance to ever be close to her again. But maybe pretending to be obsessed with Autumn won't have to be all acting.
Each chemistry audition passed by but not one was nearly as good as Hallie's and at the end when the directors asked for my input on who should get the role I said her name. To which they wrote something down and gave me a thumbs up.

It's a couple of days after the chemistry auditions and the cast should be up by today. I call the group chat with Aryan, Leah, and me to open the casting list with them. We always do that together it's sort of become our thing now.
"Hey guys," I say to Leah and Aryan as they join the call.
"Hey,"
"What's up."
"Well, casting comes up today for the final cast, and thought I should call the group chat," I tell them.
"Ohhhh is this for If He Had Been With Me?" Leah asks.
"Yeah, this is." I responded, "I want this girl named Hailie Jones to get the role of Autumn at chemistry auditions she was really talented and for sure is the girl who deserves it."
We talk a little bit more and I rant just a little bit about Hailie which received weird looks from Aryan and Leah but they didn't try to press me for information yet.
"GUYS! The list just came out" I yell excitedly as I open my Email to see the casting.
Dear Everyone,
Thank you so much for auditioning here is the official casting for If He Had Been With Me.
Autumn as Hailie Jones
Finny as Walker Scobell
Jamie as Brady Noon
Sylvie as McKenna Grace
Sasha as Ariana Greenblatt
Aunt Angelina as Jennifer Garner
Autumn's Mom as Emma Watson
(all these characters will make sense to you guys as you continue to read)
I read the casting out loud and I grew more and more excited as I read the cast list of amazing and talented actors some of whom I used to dream of working with like Emma Watson.
"Oh my God that's amazing!" Leah exclaimed.
"Yeah so many of my friends are here and Hailie got the part of Autumn!" I say happily.
"Okay, so you're telling me Walker doesn't like this girl?" Aryan asked through the camera. Which received a small giggle from Leah.
"Yeah, he even mentioned her before even acknowledging the fact that Brady Noon is on the list" Leah agreed, they just stared at me through the screen accusingly waiting for me to agree or deny but I didn't want to do either.
"Well, I mean she was really talented." I defend.
"Okay, Walker we believe you," Leah sarcastically said, I just rolled my eyes and changed the subject to the movie.
a/n- What did we think of this chapter? Also all the new characters!?! Tell me Brady Noon and Emma Watson on the same story doesn't sound great. This time I'm promising myself that I will do one chapter every day so expect frequent updates!
