Hailie's POV
This morning was a perfect morning.
I woke up for me and Walker's daily morning walks where we talked about stupid stuff and laughed at each other for stupid stuff, my favorite part of the day.
We met each other at the front doors of our hotel per usual and decided this morning we would head out farther in the city to go to the farmer's market.
The Farmer's market was all so busy with every yell and laugh mixing in with our own. The shops were small and compact but filled with so many things.
"I never realized how busy these things are until I get to them," Walker says pointing at the the crowd of people focused on their own conversations and buying things from their own shop.
"Yeah me neither, I always think farmer's markets are for middle-aged ladies and their husbands they forced to come along only," I commented half-jokingly.
Walker gasped deeply and mimicked a look of offense "Are you calling me your middle-aged husband, Hailie?" He says with his hand on his chest and a look of fake shock plastered on his face.
"You text like one," I say, grinning knowing it was true.
"Well that would make you a middle-aged lady with a husband she dragged alone, me," He says matter-of-factly. It caught me off guard a little bit, that he called himself my fake husband because that's the type of stuff I call him in my own thoughts (I'm not delusional.)
But I put on a fake cringed-out face as if I hate being referred to as a middle-aged lady whose husband is Walker Scobell (i don't.)
"I hate middle-aged couples, they always are either so in love and call each other darling or fight every day over stupid shit," I comment, stopping at a booth that sells waffles because I remember Walker told me they were his favorite breakfast food the other week.
"Okay, darling" He announced with a smirk on his face knowing he could properly get me flustered with just those two simple words.
He said it as if he has been waiting his whole life to say it. I was going to respond when a girl came up to me and Walker.
She was unfortunately stunning and also, unfortunately, came up to specifically talk to Walker. She had utterly perfect hair that swooped in at the ends but was pin-straight all the way through her brown hair, I was instantly jealous.
"Hey, you're Walker Scobell, correct?" She says completely disregarding my existence.
Rude
"Yeah," He glanced over at me to see if I was going to say anything.
She started twirling her hair in a circle and batting her eyelashes out to Walker, first of all gross. Second of all, the jealousy hit me like a brick wall.
I know I'm pretty I've never claimed that I'm not but I can still acknowledge when I know a girl is prettier than me. And this girl is, her hazel eyes innocently staring at Walker.
"Hi" She says "I'm Delilah, by the way"
"Hey Delilah," He acknowledges but he steps slightly closer to me and away from Delilah.
Me- 1 Delilah-0
"I'm a huge fan Walker, really" She lightly brushed her hand against his making him flinch a little back.
"I'm glad," He tells her uninterested, I'm sure this isn't the first time he's been hit on by 15-year-old "fans" in public.
She finally pulled her stare away from Walker and laid her eyes on me, her expression from innocent to snarky.
She was one of THOSE girls.
"Who's this Walker?" She asked him as if they were friends and I was the one that was new to them. But all I can think is I know about the fact that he blinks a lot when he's nervous, that he get's flustered easy, and that theres a line a freckles that trace against her nose that perfectly fit his face.
Only I know that, not this girl.
"This is my girlfriend, Hailie." He confidently announces to her. The announcement sounded too good to be true. That's because it was.
It's just to put on a show I think to myself trying to play into the act.
Her face went from snarky to snarkier.
"Her?" She questioned as she looked me up and down in disgust. She was acting as if my presence alone was enough to drive her out of the country.
"Yes, why couldn't she be my girlfriend, Delilah?" He responded with his sass in his voice. It was his turn to be snarky.
"Look at her, that's enough you need to know." She snapped back defensively, her fists clenching. This might've been the first time she's ever been rejected, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
I knew I had to tell her off myself after that personal attack "I know damn well Delilah that you don't-"
"Darling it's fine. Let's go," He says as he pulls my arm and drags me away from where we were standing letting Deliah stand there with her face red and embarrassed. I would be too if I was her.
