Its the next day and Fatima was thinking about Aisha and how she sounded on the phone, so she decided to pull up on her
Knock knock knock
Aisha: Coming
Aisha opens the door
Fatima: Hey sis.
Aisha: What are you doing here?
Fatima: My sister said she needed me so I'm here.
Fatima hugs her tight
Aisha: How are you?
Fatima: I'm good actually
Aisha: That's good
Fatima: And how are you?
Aisha: I've been better
Fatima: Where's Riya?
Aisha: She's with Faith
Fatima: Okay then. So talk to me.
Aisha: Sis I don't want to bother you with my problems.
Fatima: Aisha what is it?
Aisha: I just don't want to be a disappointment.
Fatima: Sis don't do that to yourself, you're not a disappointment. Yes you may not make the right decision all the time but baby you're human, you're going to make mistakes, you're not perfect.
So don't you ever let no man or anyone else make you feel like you're a disappointment, because you're far from that.
Aisha: My therapist said that I reflect a lot and avoid things and that I'm in a stage of mourning something that I never healed from..
Fatima: And how did that make you feel?
Aisha: Ashamed, but it made me realize that maybe she's right. Maybe I do avoid things
Fatima: Sis you've experienced a lot of trauma in your life, and you never got the proper healing treatment for it. You suppressed and push things in the back of your head just like I used to do. And you don't realize it until something simple because to much. I know you try your hardest but baby, you gotta stop being so hard on yourself. Because you are a damn great mother. You work hard and do your very best at making sure Ri has everything she wants and needs.. And sometimes I can be a lil hard on you because I don't want you to make the same mistakes Ive made. I understand how you feel because I've lived through what you're feeling, and it's not easy babe. You going to have days where you're happy and days like this where you're low, and it's nothing wrong with that. You're allowed to have low days, but that doesn't make you weak, it makes you human.
Aisha: How do you do it?
Fatima: I pray and ask God to give me strength through whatever it is that I'm faced with, then thank him for what I just prayed for. And Zac and I take moments for us while the kids are either sleeping or at school to just check in with each other and give each other space to talk about what we're feeling.
Aisha: So when do I know I'm healed?
Fatima: When you're no longer hurting and suffering from it. And when you're no longer angry at the person who caused it. But even when you're no longer hurting, the healing doesn't stop. Healing isn't a destination, it's an everyday journey and process.
Aisha: It's nice to have a sister as my counselor
Fatima: Girlll, don't put me in that category because I'm far from a counselor. I just go off my own experiences.
Aisha: Well you're still my counselor
Fatima: Well if that's the case, I need my check for this session. ( smiles )
