Chilchuck x Gnome Y/N "Dear Old Friends"

Y/N POV

Over the passing years Chilchuck and I have been acquaintanced with each other, and for as long as I can remember he was my dearest best friend whom I can easily talk to

even after he got married and had kids it was never awkward between us.

but unfortunately we lost contact a few years later, even still I heard he was doing great with his job so at least he wasn't in any danger

many of our people would always mistaken us as the couple even back then we were constantly teased, but to me and Chilchuck, we were only the best of friends nothing more nothing less.

but that's not what other people think, for them it always feels like Chilchuck and I are destined to be together

it stopped or at least simmered down the time where Chilchuck got married  and of course so was I, to another person.

My husband and I get along quite well despite the fact that our marriage was arranged only, Chilchuck got to marry the girl he has a huge crush on when we were children and I was so happy for him

the villagers however, weren't so happy he married her, they would always prefer me over her and it was getting more and more annoying by the passing days.

but unfortunately for them Chilchuck already had a kid while I was pregnant with my first child, the bickerings and gossips weren't so verbally heard ever since they figured out Chilchuck's wife and I are pregnant

Fast forward to today Chilchuck already has three adult kids all living on their own, while my own son and daughter are both scholars continuing their research at the academy overseas so I'm left alone in our little cottage.

Cassie and Castin are both grown adults living and surviving on their own without any help from adults and I couldn't be anymore prouder of my two darlings.

My husband passed away many years ago right before my young daughter turned ten years old

but I'am glad that Cassie got to know her father before she completely forgets what he looks like..

"Hey Y/N! You got a letter"

the mailman called out to me waving my letters before handing them to me, I thanked him before entering back inside my house to open the letter.

Upon opening I immediately saw Chilchuck's name indicating that the letter was sent by him, curious I wondered why after all these years he would still send a letter to me

we stopped writing letters the moment we had children, life was too busy and we parted ways it wasn't out of bitterness

I guess that's just the way life is but unfortunately faith had something in mind.

Huh...so he wants me to join his party?.. interesting, I wonder what type of adventure are they having now

(A week later)

It wasn't long before I arrived in my destination, hopping off from my horse I gently caressed her head before tying her to the fence, she's a well behaved horse so she'll do just fine outside for a few minutes.

upon opening the tavern, immediately all the attention were towards me for mere seconds before they mind their own businesses again

"Y/N! Over here" that voice will never go unnoticed by me, I recognized it all too well to forget it

It was my old friend waving and smiling at me cheerfully with his drink in hand, beside him was a tall-man with an armor on and an elf girl with long and blonde hair holding a staff.
