Chapter 38

Amika's Pov

...

After a long day of shopping, Lena and I were finally home...I was really tired, of late I've been getting tired more and more frequently....

Perks of Second Trimester......

At the last doctor's appointment, the doctor said the baby was about the size of half a fully grown papaya.....

So she said, I'd be tired more and more frequently also, I can't wear heels anymore, because feet swell very easily during pregnancy and also, some women tend to be more clumsy during pregnancy......

We finally arrived home, I parked the car and grabbed some of the bags from the backseat, since they were all light...Lena grabbed some as well....

When I opened the door, the house seemed to be unusually quiet....I looked at Lena who was equally surprises as well...

After we set the bags in the room before the living room..I went to the living room and found Bryce and Myra asleep on one couch, and Lucas, Julian and Nicholas asleep on another couch.....

"Lena come seee..." I whispered to Lena across the room
"What is.....awwwww..." Lena said as she came into the living room, and sat at the edge of the chair that Bryce was asleep and ruffled his hair

"Hey babe... we're back..." She said while kissing his cheek
"Lena., what time did you get back, I must've fallen asleep..." He said while sitting up and encircling his arms around his wait
"Also,I'm sorry for shutting you out this morning, I understand you were just looking out for me...."Lena said while figeting
"You don't need to apologise, I'm always here for you..."
"Aren't you and Lucas supposed to be gone for that contractor thing you were talking about..." Lena said to Bryce
"Oh shit, I completely forgot....I'll be back..." Bryce said while racing down the corridor
"Lucas.....Lucas..." I said to Lucas in a singsong voice
"Just 5 more minutes.... I'll be awake soon..."
"Well,.I guess you're not going for the meeting with Bryce then..." I said
"Meeting...oh crap....I totally forgot, wait what time did you get back?.."
" Lucas breathe.....we got back a couple minutes ago"I laughed
"I nearly thought you two weren't going to be back..." He joked while sleepily pecking my cheek and lightly caressing my stomach
"Did the baby give you any trouble today...." He asked me while still caressing my stomach
"Hm...nope, the baby was surprisingly well behaved today, didn't even kick once...."I joked

Suddenly Lucas's phone started to ring and it was Bryce....
"Seems like I have to go, I'll see you later..." He said while kissing me softly and then my stomach and then left

Lena has already taken the twins to bed, while Myra was still fast asleep on the other couch, I went to the other couch, and ruffled her long brown locs, which were soft and smelt like strawberry and coconut....

I tried to carry her in my arms, but immediately felt her struggling....
"No mommy.....I want to stay here with you..." She said sleepily and was immediately closing her eyes again
"I'm not going anywhere.....I'm not going anywhere..." I said while putting her little head in my lap and softly caressing my hair...

I turned on the TV, but turned down the volume, since we had three sleeping toddlers in the house....
I scrolled to look for something to watch, but I couldn't really find anything...so I settled on a childhood cartoon I used to watch alot

I put it on, and I immediately got invested in a show I watched alot as a kid......I don't know if it was the hormones or the memories......but I started to tear up....

Watching this show with my siblings.... before

I immediately pushed away the memory of a distant past, I had a new life now, and I couldn't ruin it now my dwelling on an unfortunate past....

I know it sounds selfish and arrogant but If that past came back now....it'd ruin everything I had now....
Lucas ..Myra.....his family....

I just couldn't afford it......I couldn't

"Amika..." Lena's call broke my chain of thoughts, and I realized that Myra had fallen back to sleep....

"I'm going to make dinner.....what should I make?..." She called out from the kitchen

"Let me help, I think we should do pasta with some chicken tenders or some lasagna...."
"I feel like the kids already had pasta for lunch, so let's make some rice with some stew and veggies....and for dessert they can have some donuts we got from the bakery...."Lena said, while checking through the cabinets
"Sounds like a plan....and it has been a while since I had rice...."

Lena and I decided that I'd make the rice, and instead of stew, we'd have stir fried rice with some steak or eggs as an alternative....

7:30pm

We'd finally finished making dinner and we were just waiting for the kids to wake up on their own so that we could serve them dinner

And to our delight, we saw the twins coming from the kids bedroom sleepily but immediately they saw their mom, their energy seemed replenished....

"Mommy..."
"Mommy..."

The twins said as they ran to their mother as she chuckled
"With the way you two are hugging me, you'd think that we haven't seen each other in a week..."
"I just missed you alot today mommy..." Julian said
"And I missed your hugs alot " Nicholas said

"Hi aunty Mika..." The twins both said while giving me both a side hug
"Hey boys..." I said while pecking their cheeks
"Did you two have fun with your dad and uncle Lucas..."
"Yep..... even though the pasta Uncle  Lucas made was very chewy...it was still yummy"Nicholas said

I saw a little sleepy Myra coming to the kitchen as well, her hair all over the place...
I crouched to her level and gave her a little hug
"Hi baby....did you enjoy your nap?.."I asked her as I pecked her cheek
"Hmm...I dreamt that I was in a ballwoom...with all my favourite princesses..."
"Aww....that sounds like a nice dream..." Lena said
"Princesses are boring..." Julian said
Myra stuck her tongue out at him
"But they're pretty..." Nicholas said.....

I see he got his dad's flirty nature.....

"Okay...guys, time for dinner....I hope you're hungry.., now go and sit while we plate your food..."

Suddenly, I recieved a phone call from one of the guards saying that there was someone waiting outside for me.....

"Lena, I'll be back...I'm just going to take care of something..."
"Sure...be careful..."

...
I grabbed a black coat with a hood, since it was a little chilly outside....as I approached the gates, I saw the guard with what appeared  to be a woman.......

"Miss Amika, she said that she has come looking for a woman with your name...but a little bit different...."
"What do you mean...."
"So....it is true....my Anamika is alive...." the shadowy figure said.....

But...how, I haven't used that name in over a decade.....unless

......my past had come back to haunt me...
