Chapter 39

Amika's Pov
...

I stared at the woman in horror....as I heard her call me a name I swore to never go by ever again....

"Anamika....it really is you...and...and...you're pregnant." The woman said in a joyful and happy voice, while all I could feel was horror and fear....

The woman smelled of an expensive perfume, and had a rich accent, and for sure I knew she hadn't walked here....there was a black SUV parked over the other side of the road....

And even though I couldn't quite see her face....I knew exactly who she was....

After all these years, she had come back to try and ruin my life again..... I swallowed back my tears and put up a hard front

"What are you doing here.....how...how did you find me.." I said with an indifferent tone

"It's a long story....I....I just missed you alot....over these past-..."

I was not going to let her waltz back into my life just like that

"I do not want anything to do with you anymore, I don't even want you to be here..."
"But dear, I know what I did was wrong...but I've changed, your mother and father will be happy to know that-..."
"Please....for my sake-" I was cut off by the sound of my phone ringing.....it was Lucas

Oh god....I'd completely forgotten about him....if he finds out that I've been lying to him about my past, he will never forgive me...

I sighed
"Fine.....let's meet up tomorrow at 3, at the Dermville Casino, then we'll discuss....all this..."

I know the Casino was an odd place to meet up but I needed this meeting to be as private as possible....I couldn't risk anything at the moment

"Okay....I'm looking forward to it....see you..." And she walked back to her car, I watched carefully as it left

I turned back to my phone, and I completely forgot that Lucas had been trying to call me...

I called him back, and he picked up
"Hey Lucas....you were trying to call.?"
"Yea, I just wanted you let you know that I'll be home late....Bryce will be there soon, since they're leaving first thing in the morning...."
"Oh okay..."
"Is everything okay?.."
"Yes, why?..."
"It's just that you're alot quieter and you almost never call me Lucas...are you feeling okay..?"
I felt like such a bad person for lying to Lucas so much.....
"Yea, you don't need to worry, I'm perfectly fine... I just want you to get back home soon.."
"Don't worry, I'll be back soon...bye.."
"Bye..." I said and cut the call

I went back into the house and found Lena fast asleep on the couch with a bowl of rice in her hand.....

I checked the time and it was...9:57pm....I didn't realize I'd been outside that long

I went into the kids bedroom and they were all trying not to fall asleep as I peeked through the door...

"Why don't you guys want to go to bed......you might fall asleep on your food..." I joked

"We're waiting for dessert....Mommy is asleep on the couch and we don't want to wake her up...and you went outside and we're not allowed to go outside when it gets really dark..." Julian said

I completely forgot.....

But if I gave them their dessert now, there was no way they were going to fall asleep any time soon......

But maybe......I decided that we'd all just have a little movie night, Lena was tired and asleep so she didn't have to worry about anything, and I needed to get my mind off of things....
