Malachi nodded. He'd been expecting this. "Go in the house, Cassidy."

She frowned. "What's happening?"

"Nothing for you to worry about. Alpha Jude is just being cautious," he told her.

"You're not going to fight are you?" she asked with a frown.

"No. Just talk," he said. He gave her a reassuring smile.

"That's debatable," Jude muttered under his breath causing Malachi to raise an eyebrow at him. Cassidy didn't hear him though.

"Please don't." She'd stood, her arms crossed as she looked between the two of them.

"Go Cass. I'll be fine, and so will the Alpha," he told her.

She nodded and glared at Jude before walking inside, closing the door behind her.

Callie immediately walked over to her and hugged her. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Tell you what?" Cassidy asked, though she knew exactly what her sister was asking her, but her father was standing off to the side, watching them both, a concerned look on his face.

"That you were dating a werewolf," Callie said.

"Dad knows?" Everybody knew everything except her.

"Of course he knows. He lives here!" Callie said rather harshly to her.

"So because I don't live here anymore, I get left out of the loop on everything?" She was hurt. Very hurt.

Callie grimaced. "I'm sorry Cassie. I have to pick and choose who I can tell what, but you already know how I feel about Mom."

Cassidy nodded, but the tears came anyway, and her father suddenly wrapped his arms around her. It wasn't the same as Malachi though, not nearly as comforting.

"I'm sorry, Cassie. I'm just worried about you. Is he your mate?" Callie asked.

"Yes he is," she said.

"But he hasn't marked you yet?" Callie pushed her hair back from her neck.

"No. I've only known him for two weeks," Cassidy mumbled. And he'd been gone one of those weeks.

"And he's a rogue," Callie said with a sigh.

"What's a rogue?"

Callie frowned at her. "He hasn't told you that?"

She shook her head. Something else she didn't know. She sighed.

"Of course he didn't," Callie muttered in disgust.

"You're awfully confident to just be sitting there, pup, in front of an Alpha wolf," Jude said with a glare. "I will not see this family messed with. They're under my protection."

Malachi nodded. He'd expected that much. He'd do the same if it was himself in this position. He stood and crossed his arms over his own chest. "Cassidy is my mate."

"You know she's working for the Big Apple Pack?" Jude asked him.

"Well, technically she's working for me right now," Malachi said with a smile.

"You work for Big Apple Industries?" Jude asked with a frown.

"No, I work for Remington Enterprises."

He watched Jude's face change from disbelief to shock, then he cursed under his breath. "Which explains why I can't detect anything. You're from Regal Eclipse."
