Warnings: Cheating, depression, smoking & vulgar language.
———————————————

Clove had never been so full of regret, she desperately wished that she'd headed the warnings she had been given, over and over again.

Her trainer, Artemis, had warned her.

Her father, Orion, had warned her.

Her mentor, Enobaria, had warned her.

Heck, even the games had warned her in their own way.

Because she hadn't headed their warnings Clove often found herself stuck between a rock and a hard place, she was admittedly stuck in a constant state of anger, sadness, resentment and hate, and there was nothing she despised more.Clove despised the fact she'd become a bitter and unlikable person, she despised the fact she'd completely ignored the warnings she'd been given and most of all she despised the fact that Cato Hadley had been the one to put her in such a state.

Falling in love with him had never been part of the plan. It had snuck on her, and hit her like a ton of bricks. A ton of bricks which hurt like an absolute bitch. She first came to the realisation three years prior, however it had taken her just over a year to come to terms with her feelings, and another year to gather up the courage to do something about it. Within those two years, Clove had done a lot of pondering, a lot of denying and had tried many different techniques to distract herself from her internal war. Non of which worked. There was nothing she wanted more than to lose all feelings she had towards Cato, but found it nearly impossible, apparently it wasn't easy to lose five years worth of feelings.

Admitting those feelings to herself had not been an easy task, admitting them to Cato himself had been an even harder task.

Clove allowed her mind to briefly wonder back to the day she'd alluded to the fact that she had feelings for him, she had never explicitly told him she was in love in with him, in the hopes he'd be the first one to say it.

Clove had let herself into Cato's home, like she typically did, wondering why he'd asked her to meet him there. "Cato?"
She called out, listening as her voice echoed.
"Im up here." She heard him call back, telling by the volume of his voice, he was far but wasn't at the furthest point of his home. Clove took a deep breath, and hesitantly ascended the stairs.
She'd recently come to the realisation that she was in love with Cato, and felt unnerved at the thought of being alone with him, despite the fact she had been on multiple occasions. She made her way through his house with ease, after having made hundreds of trips in and out of it, it was safe to say she knew it like the back of her hand.

Clove almost instantly stopped in her tracks when she first caught a glimpse of Cato, it was the first time seeing him, ever since she came to terms with her feelings and it had felt like a movie.
He just looked so... different. Better different.
He was leaning on the balcony outside of bedroom, cigarette in mouth. He was shirtless, as per usual, and wore nothing but a lose pair of grey jogging bottoms. Her breath caught in the back of her throat as her eyes trailed up to his face, it was as flawless as always and was as relaxed as it usually was. "Hey, Clover." He said, exhaling as he did so.
"Hi." She said sheepishly, as she forced her feet to move forward. Clove moved through Cato's room and out the double doors, onto the balcony where he stood, a certain ambiance surrounded them which made both Clove and Cato admittedly anxious.
"No need to be nervous Clover," He drawled with a slight chuckle on the end, "I don't bite..."He said with another pause, "Unless you want me to."
Fuck— Clove thought to herself, with a breathy sigh. "Why did you ask me here, then?" She said, in a quick attempt to change the subject.
"Is it a crime to want to spend time with my favourite girl?" He said with a condescending smirk. Clove's heart very briefly sped up with joy, until she took a moment to ponder what he'd said and very quickly came to a disappointing understanding.
"You want to have sex." She said, casting her eyes onto the ground.
"That's not what I had in mind, but if you're in the mood for that—"
"No." Clove said harshly. Cato's head snapped towards her on offence, and confusion, not understanding that Clove's patience had begun wearing thin. Cato's confusing behaviour did nothing but make her head spin, it was like some days he needed her, other days he wanted her and other days he wanted nothing to do with her at all.
"What's your issue?" He said with a slight chuckle.
