Jinx the Kitten

A box was plonked on the table, making Cole jump slightly at the noise.

He raised an eyebrow, looking up at his teammates, "What's the box for?"

"Open it," Kai instructed.

"Is this a prank?" He reached for the box, beginning to pull back the top, "Y'know, I'm not in the mood for your jokes-"

The box was full of pet necessities, and well as a few cat toys. He picked up a mouse plush, regarding his teammates sceptically.

"We don't own a cat?"

"Not until recently," Nya responded with a smile, "She ran off; Lloyd's trying to find her."

"Gotcha!" Came a yell, and Lloyd entered the room, awkwardly holding a jet-black kitten. Her eyes were mismatched, the right one a dark red, while the left was a teal green and surrounded by a white, diamond-shaped patch of fur.

"Great timing Greenie," Jay commented.

"I still don't get it?" Cole stated, though they noticed his eyes tracking the feline with a shine they hadn't seen in a while.

Zane took the kitten from Lloyd, walking up to Cole and placing her into his arms. Cole cautiously accepted, holding her like she was made of glass.

"We've noticed your mood has dropped drastically since Master Wu's disappearance, and you've been attempting to shoulder more responsibilities," Ice explained, "So, we decided to get you something to take care of. An outlet, if you will."

"I-" Cole looked back at the kitten, who purred at him, rubbing her head against his hand. He blinked, and the others smiled, "Thanks. I've- I've never had a pet before."

"She kinda looks like you," Jay joked, "With the mark over the bluey-green eye."

Cole hummed, "Yeah, I guess she does."

"What are you gonna name her?" Lloyd asked excitedly.

"Lemme guess, Rocky?" Kai joked.

"Jinx," Cole stated.

"Jinx?" Lloyd repeated.

"Because... she's a black cat," Cole said, smiling slightly, "Get it?"

"His humour's back already," Lightning commented, "I told you guys this was a good idea."

Jinx suddenly jumped out of Cole's hands, running out of the room.

"Oh come on!" Lloyd groaned, and everyone laughed.

"Let's go grab her," Nya instructed, so they all left the room in search of the newest member of the team.
