"Look Momma! It's raining!"
"I can see that Pebble- wait, put your coat and boots on first sweetie."
"Hurry Momma, let's go!"
"I'm coming, try and be a bit quieter though. Remember Kira's still asleep."
"Oh, sorry Momma."
"That's fine Pebble."
"Wait for me! I wanna play in the rain!"
"Put your coat and wellies on then darling, and don't wake your sister."
Finally ready, Morro and Cole held their mother's hand as they stepped into the rain. Letting go, they dashed off to jump into a particularly large puddle.
Lily smiled, before joining them, splashing both of her sons as she jumped. Squealing, they splashed her back, bouncing between different puddles.
All three of them giggled while they spun around in the rain, feeling the rain beat down on them.
Eventually, Lou came down holding a fully rested Kira, and the all five of the Brookstone family was outside, dancing in the rain.

That was one of Cole's purest memories, even after Morro's disappearance and his mother's death, he was always drawn to the rain, and the Earth in general.
One time, in the early stages of the Ninja's friendship, he spotted Jay on the deck, splashing in the rain. The two made eye contact, and Cole zipped up his jacket, running out to join him.
After a while, Lloyd walked outside, wondering what the noise was. Realising what was going on, the kid had timidly asked if he could join, and the three held a water splashing contest.
They were a lot closer after that, and when the others got back, they found them tangled up on a settee, covered in blankets as they slept.
---------------------------
Hearing the water droplets patter against the Bounty's roof, he looked out the window wistfully.
Being a ghost meant no more spending time outside when it rained, because he would cease to exist, reduced to a small pile of glowing green goo.
So, as he watched the others train from his perch on a window sill, he couldn't help but sigh in jealousy. Jay glanced over at some point, and he looked away, not wanting anyone to see his bitterness for his situation.
However, he would occasionally sit by an open door, observing from a safe distance as the rain flooded the deck on their flying ship.
Eventually, someone would see him, and make him come back inside, away from the water. He would obliged, though he would wish he could stay by the doorway.
Or, even better, walk into the rain. And run around, splashing and spinning like he didn't have a care in the world.
But that wasn't possible, not anymore.
---------------------------
The rain came back, beating down onto the ship as they travelled over Ninjago.
Cole stared at his hands- his very solid, human hands, before sprinting out of the shared bedroom.
"It looks like the rain is going to be here for a while," Zane was telling the others, when something- someone- ran past them all.
Water splashing on his clothes and skin, Cole laughed as he spun, because it didn't feel like acid.
It felt like he was eight years old, and he and his family were splashing in puddles together. It felt like he didn't have the weight of the world on his shoulders, and he wasn't worried about imminent threats trying to destroy Ninjago.
Finally, he realised the others were watching, and turned to look at them. They were all wearing confused smiles, standing by the door as they tried to figure out what he was doing.
"You gonna join or what?" Cole asked, smiling brightly. Returning the smile, Jay ran outside, followed by Lloyd.
Nya and Kai went after, dragging Zane along with them.
And all six of them were giggling like children, running about the deck and splashing one another, without a care in the world.
After an hour, they were sopping and shivering, but still laughing while they trudged inside to change.
Zane made some cocoa, and they watched a film, piled on top of each other to warm up.
And when Cole came downstairs the next day sneezing with a mild fever, he had no regrets. Because he got to dance in the rain with the people he loved most again.

This was inspired by a one shot I read on AO3, I think it was titled the same. anyway, this was just a sweet little one-shot about lil' Cole and his memories.
