Cleo's POV
Arriving back at the hotel, I quietly entered my room, locking the door behind me. My phone buzzed; a new message. Pulling it out of my jeans, I unlocked it. One unread text from Ryx.
When you come back to the hotel get ready and meet us. Come to the lobby and tell the receptionist that Funnell is expecting you.
Short and straight to the point. Must be business. If it was a casual message, there would be a smiley face or another type of emoji. It was quite hard to believe, Mr. Don't-Talk-To-Me-I-Am-Antisocial had a small obsession with emojis. Throwing my stuff in the general direction of the couch, I grabbed a fluffy white towel and walked to the bathroom to get ready. Stripping out of my clothes, I pulled my hair loose before stepping into the cubicle. Turning the shower on, I let the warm water glide down my body, relaxing the tensed muscles. I lifted up my face to the water, moving my head around to workout the kinks in my neck. It's surprising what water can do to you; physically and mentally.
After reveling in the comfort of the shower for sometime, I decided to get ready. I was curious to know why Ryx has apparently arranged a meeting. And who's Funnell? I guess my questions will be answered once I get to the reception, but nothing stopped my inquisitive mind from prodding around.
Putting on a pair of jeans and a plain white tee, I shrugged on my leather jacket and made to the door, grabbing my combat boots as well. I pulled on the boots while the lift descended to the lobby, and when the doors opened, I was ready to go. Walking over to the reception, I gave a cough to catch the receptionist's attention. Her eyes snapped up and she stood up in a flurry, papers flying everywhere and her chair falling over. She gave a horrified look and her hand flew to her mouth. I simply raised an eyebrow, "New to the job?" I questioned. She nodded timidly. I bent down, picking some scattered papers and handing them over. "Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it." I said as she accepted the papers and gave a meek 'thank you'. "How may I help you ma'am?" She asked, straightening her posture and trying to look professional as possible. "I believe Funnell is expecting me?" I said smiling slightly. Recognition hit her as her eyes widened. "Yes ma'am, right this way - I'm so sorry about that I had no idea that you were -" "Hey calm down, humans make mistakes and frankly I didn't care about that. I just caught you by surprise, no big deal." I cut in. She gave a small nod and led me towards a room behind the reception. Going in, she beckoned an armed guard standing in the corner. "Ed will escort you from here. I hope you don't mind." The receptionist said, nodding towards Ed. He gave a small nod of acknowledgment. "I don't mind." I replied, giving a shrug. "Okay then, I'll take my leave." She said, walking out, gently closing the door behind her.
Walking towards a sleek metal door, Ed typed in a code and the door noiselessly slid aside. "Follow me, Miss. Heath" he said, walking down the stairs that descended immediately after you stepped through the door. I followed him, keenly aware that this was an underground prison of some sort. This was either something very serious or Ryx had started to hit the moondust. I hoped it was the former, because I'm not extremely fond of babysitting a hungover werewolf.
After passing an astounding amount of guards, we stopped in front of a metal door. Ed punched in another code and the door beeped open. Stepping aside, he motioned me to go in first. Walking in, my eyes were immediately drawn to the chair in the middle of the room. A male vampire was strapped to it, his neck, arms and feet bound with thick bulky leather. Ryx was standing to a side, engaged in conversation with whom I assumed was Funnell. Ryx had a wolfish grin on his face which I haven't seen in a long time. Kayla was trailing her fingers across a shiny dagger and Jacob was watching her.
Everyone's heads turned at the sound of the door. "About time you decided to join the party, Cleo. We've been waiting." Ryx said, coming over and gently ruffeling my hair. I huffed. I enjoyed the attention, but not in front of so many others, especially not in front of captives. Shrugging it off, I nodded in acknowledgment towards Funnell. "You must be Funnell. It's a pleasure to meet you." I said, holding my hand out. Taking my hand, he shook it firmly. "The pleasure is all mine. Never did I imagine that the Dragon Queen will pay me a visit." He replied, his eyes twinkling with humour. I took an instant liking towards the older wolf. I gave him a grin.
I motioned towards the bound vamp. "Who's our unfortunate guest?" I asked, smirking slightly. "We caught him when we we're cleaning up the remaining Silver Arrows. Punk's hiding something, so I thought you'd like to get to know him better." Ryx said, bringing over a silver dagger. "Well well. Looks like I made a new friend!" I grinned sadistically at the struggling vamp. His eyes widened and he hissed in fear at the sight of the silver. "Now let's discuss this situation you find yourself in." I whispered darkly.
