Cleo's POV

When I reached school it was 6.30 am, I had another hour till school starts. So I put on my headphones and headed towards the library. I preferred the library to any other place, it gave me the comfort and solace I desperately needed to keep my sanity intact. When I reached it I just gave a nod towards the librarian and went and sat down in the darkest corner I could find. Let's just say I'm not a talker.

After my parents' death I didn't trust a fly. The only person I trust on this pathetic planet is Ryx. He's the one who saved me that horrifying day...

"Hey, don't cry. You'll be okay. I'll protect you." he said. I looked at him properly for the first time. He had jet black hair that was styled messy. He had warm brown eyes that was looking at me kindly and he had a scar vertically from his left temple to the top of his eyelid, which gave him a badass look. He had big muscles and broad shoulders. He looked about 20 or 21 years old.

His words rang in my head. 'He said he will protect me. From all this horrible things. Can I trust him?' I thought to myself, unsure if I can let him see the broken girl I am now. After a few minutes I made up my mind. "I trust you." I whispered softly. He smiled at me. Then he did something that shocked me. He hugged me. He hugged me. He hugged an orphaned girl who's covered with blood. A girl that he can take advantage of. A girl who's weak and helpless. He hugged me...

I was brought out of my thoughts by the bell. I grabbed my bag and headed towards my first class, Biology. I love Biology, it's quite fascinating to learn about animals and plants. And it personally helps me to know the various organs of the human body which will cause massive pain or death. When I got there Ms. Pennington was writing 'Surprise Test' on the whiteboard. "Good morning Ms. Pennington." I said respectfully. "Good morning dear. I'm sure you'll get an A+ again." she said, smiling at me. "Thanks Ms. Pennington." I replied.

Just cause I'm an assassin doesn't mean I shouldn't respect my elders. I'm an assassin of justice, I don't kill for fun. I sat in the front, since I couldn't concentrate in the back with all the stares and whispers and other stuff that are not worth mentioning. Soon the other kids started coming in, and when they saw me they avoided me like the plague. Let's just say I have a reputation for being the bad girl around here.

The test started and I finished it in record time. I handed my paper to the teacher and left the class. The day flew by and soon the last bell rang. Grabbing my bag I practically sprinted out of the school. When I got in my car my phone started ringing. It was from Ryx.

"Hey what's up?" I asked.

"Nothing, just cooking my baby sis her favourite dish, lasagne with chicken!" he answered, and I heard him banging some saucepans.

I grinned in delight and laughed and hung up, jumping into my car, reversing back and racing home. I couldn't wait to meet my unrelated brother!
