Ryx's POV
I chuckled to myself as I heard Cleo laugh and hang up. I finished cooking so I grabbed the cutlery and set the table. In probably 5 minutes Cleo will be here so I better hurry up. After I finished setting the table, I sat down on the living room sofa and waited. I sighed, remembering how vulnerable and scared Cleo was 2 years ago. 'Now look at her. She's the best assassin in Asia. We gotta be proud of our sis.' my wolf said.
I'm an Alpha werewolf but my pack got attacked by rogues when I was small, so I joined the SAC for protection. The rogues killed the whole pack but my mom survived. She's currently with one of my ally packs. They offered to take me in but I declined politely, I wanted to get revenge on my pack's death. All the faces of my members flashed in front of me, the bloodied faces of the Elders...the men... the women... the helpless children... my father... and finally my little sister. I was helpless, I was only 10 years old and still only shifted a few days back. I only managed to save my mom but I... I should've... Her terrified voice rang in my head.
'Ryx! Help me!! I don't wanna die!! Save me Ryx!'
I could feel a stray tear leaking out so I quickly wiped it away. I couldn't show any emotions, it was unheard of.
The front door banged open and Cleo barged in and tackled me into a hug. I hugged her back inhaling the familiar jasmine fragrance that surrounded her. "I missed you, you you... I got nothing to call you." she said. I gave a chuckle and got up. "Let's eat, and I'll tell you why I dropped by." I said, taking Cleo's hand in mine and dragging her to the dining table. I held the chair for her as she sat, being the gentleman I rarely am.
"Thanks bro, you're being very nice, not like the usual jackass you are." Cleo said giving me a 'what's up?' look. I sighed and sat down. "Nothing, can't I be nice to the only person I care about?" I said, pouting at Cleo. She laughed. "Of course you can." she said smiling at me.
Her dark brown eyes which were sparkling with happiness could be easily mistaken for black. Her wavy raven black hair fell up to her hip and it had red highlights in it. At first glance you'd think she's fragile but if you look closely you can see that she was someone you didn't wanna mess with. And I'm proud to be her brother, unrelated brother actually. She... she reminded me of my sister, I guess that's why I'm so protective of her.
"Stop staring at me. It's weird." Cleo said smacking my hand. "Sorry I was lost in my thoughts." I said, running my hand through my hair. She giggled and started eating. She moaned at the first bite. "This is so good. Mmmm..." she said and tucked in. "You're an awesome chef! Did you ever think of being a chef?" Cleo asked me. "I prefer being an assassin. It helps me keep an eye on one specific troublemaker." I said, winking at Cleo, getting a death glare in return. "You do know I can kick your ass and not break a sweat right?" she said, giving me a kick from under the table. "Ow! No kicking!" I complained. Cleo rolled her eyes and whispered something under her breath that suspiciously sounded like 'the big bad wolf's hurt cause I kicked him.' "I heard that!" I said, giving a playful glare. "Of course you should've heard that! Aren't werewolves supposed to have heightened senses?" she said. "Yes, but I prefer to use mine only when I'm working." She nodded her head understandingly and took a gulp from her water.
"Are you done eating? I wanna tell you something." I said. Cleo nodded, pushing her plate away. Dragging me to the living room she pushed me down onto one of the sofas. 'Damn, that girl's strong.' my wolf said, with a hint of pride. "So, what do you wanna tell me?" Cleo asked me, looking serious. I cleared my throat. "Well, I got your next mission but..." I warned her, seeing her excited face. "It's gonna be in England." Her face instantly fell, but she quickly covered it up. "And?" she questioned, raising her eyebrow. "And it'll be quite a dangerous mission so you'll have backup. I know you prefer working solo but you have to accept the backup we are giving you." I said, pausing to let the information sink in. After thinking for a while she asked, "Who's my backup crew?" I smiled and said, "Jacob, Kayla and me of course! Who else can protect our favourite assassin?" I said teasingly. "Hmm... okay. "She mumbled.
"I know you don't trust anyone but me, but you'll have to trust Jacob and Kayla. Only them, okay sis?" I pleaded, putting the best puppy eyes I could. Cleo took a deep breath and closed her eyes. In a couple of seconds she opened them. "Okay I'll trust them. I kinda like them anyway." Cleo said, giving me a small smile. "Good girl." I said, pulling her into a hug. She hugged me back, resting her head on my shoulder. I heard her sigh.
"You know I'm not a good girl. I'm the baddest bad girl to be born!" she said, pulling away and ruffling my hair. "Yeah, you're my bad sis. The meanest little assassin to be alive." I said, poking her tummy, not that she has one, she's flat as a pancake. "Anyway, who's my target?" she asked, flopping down on the sofa. "A group of vampires called the 'Silver Arrows', they kill anyone for money and attack for fun as well. Quite dangerous, but it'll be a piece of cake for you, and you only got backup since the 'Silver Arrows' happen to be a big group." I told her and saw that she already got her game face on. "When are we leaving?" she asked. I gave her an evil smile and said, "Tonight."
