Chapter 9: History revealed

3rd POV

Y/N followed Theresa into the database room. Y/N had already visited it multiple times after Theresa gave him access, but he still couldn't access every single bit of information, as the clearance required for it was higher than what he had. Theresa lead him through the maze of servers and bookshelves, before stopping.

Theresa: Alright. I'm sure you've got a whole bunch of questions, so ask away while I prepare everything.

Y/N: Who are the Flamechasers? What is my connection to them? Who are their members? Why can't I remember anything about them?

Theresa:...I regret my previous decision. Alright, first question. The Flamechasers were a group of thirteen MANTIS fighters, who were the last of there group after something known as the Tragedy of Binding killed all the others. These MANTIS soldiers were created by an organization called MOTH. The founder and leader of their group was Elysia, who proposed that the thirteen of them form the Thirteen Flamechasers. However, MOTH rejected the idea, and only allowed 5 of them to form. The other 8 were denied for various reasons. Elysia didn't like that, so she formed the Thirteen Flamechasers anyways, which was not sanctioned by MOTH. However, there was someone else who joined them later on, though not as an official member. That person...

Y/N:...Was...me?

Theresa: Yup. You joined up with them after you were found in an abandoned library. You seemed to have just, appeared one day. You knew pretty much everything about the world and it's history, yet when they asked about family and history, you didn't respond. You were around the same age as one of the Flamechasers, Fu Hua. They took you in, and-

Y/N: Wait, Fu Hua is one of the Flamechasers?!

Theresa: I glossed over something. MOTH no longer exists. They were in a time known as the Previous Era. The world was destroyed and corrupted by the Honkai, and was no longer habitable. It took hundreds of thousands of years for the world to be habitable once again. The majority of the Flamechasers died that day, while some were placed in Cryopods, and only let out when the world was purified. Fu Hua was one of them. She doesn't age, and has been around for a long time. So, as I was saying-

As Theresa spoke, a vision flashed in his mind. He was lying in someone's arms. She was looking at him, the pink hair being the only bright thing around them. The area around them was a dusty library, the books seemingly haven't been touched in millennia.

???:Poor you...Don't worry, you'll be fine!

Elysia:...We'll get you out of this dusty place.

The vision fades, as Y/N interrupts Theresa.

Y/N: Elysia...Wait, if Fu Hua is one of the Flamechasers, why hasn't she talked to me? All of my time here, and she's talked to me like thrice. Why is that?

Theresa: Ugh, be a bit patient. I'm getting there. Currently, we know this because memory replicas of the Thirteen Flamechasers are housed in a place called the Elysian Realm, which also holds information regarding the Previous Era. Regarding your time in the Previous Era, you were a sort of 14th Flamechaser, and you acted as another researcher and intelligence officer for them. You gathered information using that ability of yours, and were an essential part of the group. You also acted as a sort of caretaker and therapist for the group. However, something happened. You were attacked by hordes of Honkai, on one of the few days where you were alone. The city you were in was destroyed, and you died that day. The Flamechasers couldn't get to you in time, and it's one of their greatest regrets. You died much earlier than the rest. Your name was lost to history, as you weren't an official member of the Thirteen Flamechasers. A sort of shadow member. The only reason we know this is because of the Elysian Realm, and Fu Hua.
