Chapter 5: Fear

Y/n returned to her own room to get some rest and recharge herself for the upcoming training, but her body was suddenly engulfed in a sharp pain as she clutched her chest, her face twisting into an expression of pain.

She was left in a temporary state of shock and paralysis as the pain was too strong and intense for her to handle. Her breathing was also affected, with her taking sharp breaths as she tries her best to remain calm and focused, trying to keep herself from completely breaking down.

"This again... What do you want..?" Y/n asked the voice inside her head.

In response to her question, the voice inside her head remained quiet. The pain she was feeling was slowly becoming unbearable for her and it only felt like it was getting worse.

She then tried to speak again, only to notice that she couldn't get a word out of her mouth as the pain became overwhelming to the point that it was so powerful that she couldn't even think properly.

She could feel a sudden sensation of warmth radiating across the mark she brushed against just above her left breast. It was an unexplainable feeling, but the pain she was feeling immediately started to intensify even further as that mark was being touched.

The overwhelming pain caused her to wince even more, making her struggle to stay in her kneeling position as she continued to clutch onto her chest.

"Just be patient... everything is happening according to plan. You'll get your chance soon enough..." She mumbled to herself in the faintest of whispers, almost as if it was meant for herself alone.

As the voice inside her mind finally went silent, Y/n was left breathless from the intense and overwhelming sensations she had just experienced.

She still felt the presence of the mark on her body, but it no longer brought up any painful sensation or sensations whatsoever. Instead, it only felt like a comfortable warmth that flowed gently throughout her body instead.

She slowly stood up, taking a couple of deep breaths before exhaling slowly, still trying to properly process the whole situation. But despite everything, she felt as if she was in a much better and calmer state.

Y/n then used the remaining few minutes to recollect and gather her thoughts, making sure to relax her mind and body before joining the training session with her mentor.

She left her room and went to the training ground to meet up with Jingliu. Upon arriving at the training grounds, she quickly searched for Jingliu and soon located her as she was standing on the side, watching Y/n as she approached her.

"You're late."

Y/n could only looked away in shame as soon as she noticed Jingliu giving her a scolding look. She felt embarrassed by the fact that she was late for the training session, even if she only saw it as a simple slip-up on her part.

"I apologize, mentor. I got caught up in something else and unfortunately lost track of the time. I didn't mean to make you wait."

Without further comment coming from her mentor, the training began once again, returning to the usual routine of their drills with Jingliu taking on the offensive as she attempted to breach Y/n's defences while the younger woman played the defensive.

Jingliu was aware of her student's abilities and skills that made her quite a formidable opponent, hence why she wouldn't go easy on her and give her a free pass to just let her win.

She also noticed that her lover still seemed to be a bit out of it and distracted with something else. She couldn't help but feel mildly concerned about her.
