51 - Stubborn

"I warned you we needed to make a reservation in advance, Woojin! It's a fancy restaurant! Why don't you listen to me?"

"I'm sorry, I forgot... you don't have to yell at me!" Woojin grumbles as he starts the car.

"Can't help it! I'm hungry and you know how I get when I'm hungry! Where are we going to eat at this hour?"

"I know a plac—"

Suddenly a metallic noise startles the couple arguing inside the car and they look towards the source of the noise. They see a large gate opening, and suddenly a person is thrown onto the street. Minji gasps.

Then a guy rushes out the door and starts doing chest compressions on the fallen person. Soon he is dragged back inside the building by a muscular man and they hear the gate closing, leaving the guy lying in the middle of the street.

The couple looks at each other in shock inside the car. "What was that?", "It's none of our business, Minji, we better get out of here!"

Minji looks shocked at her boyfriend. "Are you serious? There's a guy lying there! We need to help him!" Without waiting for a response, she runs out of the car towards the guy on the street. Woojin sighs frustrated and moves the car, driving closer to where they are.

He gets out of the car and sees his girlfriend doing chest compressions on the guy. He looks very young, dressed elegantly and wearing lots of jewelry. His face looks badly injured. "Is he dead?"

"He's not breathing, but I think there's still time to save him. Help me carry him to your car!"

"What? I'm not putting some random dead guy in my car, Minji! Let's head out of here!"

"I'm a nurse! Do you really think I won't provide assistance? Be useful and call for an ambulance then! His phone is on the ground there, be quick!" She points to the phone lying near the body and continues with the chest compressions, alternating with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Woojin picks up the phone and calls emergency services. Soon after, he puts the phone in the dead guy's pocket. "Can we go now?"

"I can't stop chest compressions until they arrive with the defibrillator, it's his only chance!" Minji continues tirelessly with the resuscitation procedure, even though the guy shows no reaction. As a nurse, she knows better. "I'll close your eyes so they don't dry out, okay buddy?" She lowers the guy's eyelids and continues with the compressions.

A few long minutes later, she hears sirens approaching and breathes a sigh of relief seeing the ambulance entering the dark street.

Namjoon is getting dizzy watching Jungkook and Jin. The two of them pace in circles in the hospital waiting area while waiting for any information about Taehyung.

During the call, they refused to provide any information about their friend, just asked them to come to the hospital. They gave Taehyung's name at the reception and the woman said someone would come to talk to them soon, asking them to wait in the meantime.

It's been over twenty minutes and Jin has already returned to the poor receptionist five times to ask for more information; Jungkook has returned about four times.

"You guys are obstructing people from moving around, calm down and sit for a bit!" Namjoon pulls the two of them by the arm towards the benches and forces them to sit. For whole two seconds, then the duo gets up again and head towards the reception when a man in a lab coat approaches, "Are you with Kim Taehyung?"

"Yes!" The three of them speak together, Jin grabs the man's arm, "Where's my brother? What happened?"

The nurse signals for the guys to follow him, leading them into a more private waiting room, "So, Kim Taehyung arrived at the hospital a few hours ago with a cardiorespiratory arrest. He had no vital signs when the paramedics arrived, but they resuscitated him on the way to the hospital."
