ALTHOUGH IT was awkward, many of the team were used to the silence of their interactions. Parties before had revealed hatred and rivalry coming to the surface, but it was always resolved the morning after, or at school the next time they saw the other in the hallway. No one could stay mad at each other.

Nothing personal, but they physically couldn't, since Coach Martinez would rip off their heads if anyone wasn't coordinated on the pitch or fighting, as it affected their plays and could've cost them.

That's the main reason Jackie and Delilah were the only ones with such an outward rivalry, whilst also managing to stay in their high positions in the team. Simply because they worked well together, and if they liked it or not, Coach Scott always told them to pass to each other if given the option, because Delilah and Jackie didn't need to communicate to see if the other was free or not, they just knew, in some weird way. It was like either one of them sensed the hatred from a mile away and kicked the ball perfectly.

It helped that Jackie had a killer kick and Delilah had quick reactions with her feet. The most unexpected pair but one that worked well nevertheless.

So now, whilst they stood around, all were slightly dazed whether they liked to admit it or not, every girl feeling the effects of the beer or two they'd had. Either they were drunk, or just feeling horrible from the amount of shitty stuff in the drinks.

Delilah hadn't drank much, thinking she'd be going home with Tyler, but obviously that went out the door quickly. She's have to find a ride, she was sure thinking back she saw the familiar car of Shauna's.

She would know since they'd spent about three times cooped up in it together, pressed against each other willingly. It was a small and bit shitty car, but Shauna loved it, so what's to complain about. Back seats couldn't hold two people though, it was quite cramped.

Jackie breathed heavily, looking at everyone angrily, her eyes set ablaze and her arms crossed. Watching as Nat stumbled on the terrain, Shauna buried in on herself taking the occasional glance to something behind Jackie, Lottie sighing and poking her cheek with her tongue, Van rolling her head back to flick her hair out of her face, Tai glaring about with pure annoyance displayed on her face, Laura Lee looking still quite confused yet a bit ashamed, and Delilah who was looking at nothing but Jackie, her feet grounded and not swaying like an uneasy Shauna, but face stoic and her eyes narrowed.

When no one spoke, not even breathed louder than needed, Jackie slapped her hands down to her sides, drawing attention from those that weren't looking at her before. She opened her mouth to say something, before meeting Delilah's eyes as she tilted her head and raised her eyebrows teasingly.

Jackie bared her teeth behind her mouth, but clenched her jaw and got on with it.

"I don't know what the fuck that was, but I do know that it's over. We're about to go to nationals. And based on what I'm
looking at right now, we might as well not even bother getting on that plane." She paused, looking around as everyone listening dazedly, still looking a bit defiant. "All right. Everybody line up."
