[6] Stitches
|Arabelle|
"Just let me do the whole thing, alright?" He ponders, and I roll my eyes.
I've known him for a week and I'm ready to get rid of him already. He seems to want to have control over everything that passes by his hands, and here I was, by his side, nodding to his instructions. We've talked over the plan at least ten times, the questions we need to ask and what we need to be prepared for. Adam Cotty, the man who called us a few days ago was meeting up with us at this fancy coffee shop that sells milkshakes for twenty dollars. That's a bit outrageous. According to the research and background check verified by Harry's police friends, Adam, was a twenty eight year old who was in line for inheritance for his family's perfumery business. This could mean a lot, with answers we hope to get today and yet, it could mean either less or nothing at all. We've been shown his ID photo, just to be able to notice him the moment he walks in. Harry and I wanted to look as confident and believable as possible, though we barely know a thing of this entire Blue Business matter.
"This milkshake is really good." I tell him again, for the fifth time and he chuckles.
"You really owe me twenty bucks."
"Stop whining, you offered to pay so deal with it." I scoff playfully, and he doesn't reply.
He stiffens, and clenches his jaw. My gaze follows his, and sure enough, Adam Cotty walks in through the doors. He wore a white t shirt, covered by a leather jacket and jeans. His dark hair was pushed back to a quiff, blue eyes streaking the room as he took off his expensive-looking sunglasses, hooking them into the neck of his shirt.
"What is this? A fashion runway in Paris?" Harry mocks, and I almost break to laughter at his evident annoyance.
"Adam Scotty?" Harry calls out, and he looks our way.
"Blake and Vienna?" Adam calls out with a smile,
Looking back at it, Harry made terrible fake name choices. I laughed for hours when he'd told me, and I might get back to it now too- but then I remind myself why we're here and all the childish, funny thoughts disappear quickly. This is serious. And this is not a game to mess with.
"Yes, please have a seat." I tell him politely, and he pulls out his chair, seating himself.
"First, we'd like to thank you for coming to meet us." Harry says, full on professional as he holds out a notebook and pen we bought just twenty minutes ago from a near by store. "Second, we'd like to ask you a few questions if that's alright with you, of course."
"Ok, let's get with it." He nods, and I tense.
"How were you introduced to Blue Business?" Harry asks,
And Adam bites his bottom lip.
"My brother in-law introduced me to it five years ago, and I've had a membership since." He tells us,
I watch as the pen writes across the lined paper, five years.
"Why a membership?" I blurt out, and Harry nudges his knee against mine but it was too late.
"Because I'm a man who likes everything to get to him on the spot, I'm not a fan of waiting and so I got a membership." He shrugs,
"Sir, on the phone, you were complaining about our business and I would like to know if I can fix the issue?" Harry is such a good actor.
