The wedding was approaching and there was a lot to plan. Since they couldn't actually get married legally a church wedding was out of the question. They were on a budget as well so Louis' suggestion to rent a whole damn castle wasn't happening and they turned down Harry's offer of a roller skate rink wedding.

It was Harry who found it. A small venue with a wonderful park outside of the city. Liam and Zayn decided on an outdoor wedding and the reception inside. Harry built them a wedding arch and decorated it with white fabric. The invitations were sent and now they just had about a thousand other things to do before the wedding.

Louis had spent a lot of time with Harry. He continued to teach him how to cook almost every day after work and they talked about everything except what was going on between them. Harry held his distance. Louis had asked for time and Harry honored that. It made him both thankful and frustrated at the same time, especially since he kept having dreams about the two of them.

He loved his job. He no longer feared that Harry would fire him but a relationship still scared him. His mum had told him that his dad had been wonderful up to the day they mated. Then he changed. How could he be sure that Harry wouldn't do the same?

He accompanied Liam to the mall to find his wedding outfit. Liam chose a classic black suit with a white shirt and black shoes. They decided to eat lunch together and Louis decided to talk to him.
"So, when do you expect Zayn to stop working?"

Liam furrowed his eyebrows.
"Why would I expect that? I just turned my spare bedroom into a studio. He loves to paint and he's really talented, why would I want to take that away from him?"

"Yeah, but when you have kids?" Louis asked.

"We've both take care of them. We've already had this conversation, don't worry about us. Where is this coming from?" Liam asked.

Louis didn't answer and Liam understood.
"I'm actually offended. I know your dad is an asshole but how can you even think that I would treat my omega like that? Seriously, Louis? You know me. I don't think I'm better just because I'm an alpha. I would never force Zayn to do anything. I believe in equality, and supporting each other's dreams. I would never hurt Zayn intentionally and I'm fully capable of taking care of a home. I don't expect him to do everything just because he's an omega."

"Yeah, I know that. I'm sorry." Louis said.

"Do you really think Harry would oppress you like that? Zayn has known him for ages and he doesn't have a bad thing to say about him. You must know him by now. Do you really think he's like your dad?" Liam asked.

"No, absolutely not." Louis replied spontaneously.

"So what's the problem then?" Liam asked.

"I don't know. I'm stuck." Louis sighed.

"Well, love is only for the brave. Suck it up and make a move." Liam smiled.

Louis thought about their conversation and headed to the grocery store after they were done at the mall. He had seen a recipe in a cookbook that Harry had bought him that he wanted to try. He remembered the ingredients and bought them before he hurried home and called Harry at his office.
"Hi! Did you find something for Liam to wear?" Harry asked.

"Yeah, he's fully suited." Louis replied.

"Just in time. The wedding is in two days." Harry laughed.

"Yeah, ehm, what are you doing after work?" Louis asked. He felt nervous all of a sudden.

He twisted the phone cord around his finger.
"I thought I'd come over and show you how to make a lasagna." Harry said.

"How about you let me cook for you for once? I found a recipe in one of the cooking books you bought me. I have all of the ingredients too. Maybe it could be like... a date?" Louis rambled nervously.

"A date?" Harry questioned, sounding surprised.

"Yeah, we don't have to if..." Louis gulped.

"I'd love to! Seven?" Harry said, sounding happy.

"Seven works." Louis said.

"Great. I'll see you then. I'm really looking forward to it." Harry said and Louis could hear in his voice that he was smiling.

They hung up and he jumped off the bed and hurried to the bathroom to take a shower. He took way too much time getting ready and when he entered the kitchen he only had forty minutes to make a meal before Harry would arrive. He picked up the cookbook and went to work.

Stuffing and wrapping chicken wasn't easy and how was he supposed to get the lumps out of mashed potatoes? When the chicken was in the oven he set the table and lit candles as well. Five minutes later Harry knocked on his door. He opened it and Harry handed him a bouquet of flowers.
"Oh, thank you." Louis smiled.

They walked into the kitchen and he found a vase.
"It smells lovely. What are you making?" Harry asked.

"Eh, chicken stuffed with mozzarella wrapped in parma ham with homemade mash." Louis today him.

"I'm impressed." Harry smiled.

Louis could see that he had made an effort to look good. He always did but there was something extra with the alpha today. They took a seat and Louis poured them a glass of lemonade into wine glasses before he checked on the food. The chicken was ready. He filled their plates and took a seat. He watched as Harry took his first bite.
"Lovely." Harry smiled.

Louis tasted as well and grimaced.
"It's bland and the mashed potatoes are lumpy." He said, sounding disappointed.

"It's the best meal I've ever had." Harry smiled and continued to eat everything on his plate.

They had a great evening. When it was time for Harry to leave Louis followed him to the front door. Harry was lingering. When he started to lean in for a kiss Louis panicked and took a step back.
"Good night."

Harry looked disappointed.
"Good night, Lou."

Louis locked the door behind him and cursed at himself for being such a coward. Why couldn't he just kiss him? It was the perfect time. Damn it!
