Ambika sat at her study desk, her brows furrowed in concentration as she stared at the intimidating math equation in front of her. Sunlight filtered through the window, casting a warm glow over her cozy room, but Ambika was oblivious to everything except the numbers and symbols on the page.
Her pencil tapped nervously against the desk as she chewed on her lower lip, trying to make sense of the problem. But no matter how hard she tried, the solution seemed to elude her grasp. Frustration bubbled up inside her, threatening to spill over.
She glanced at the clock on the wall and realized with a sinking feeling that time was slipping away. The deadline for her homework was fast approaching, and she was nowhere near solving the equation.
As the door creaked open, Ambika's heart skipped a beat, and a wave of relief washed over her at the sight of Arkadi. His gentle eyes met hers with a warm smile, instantly easing the tension that had been building within her.
"Arkadi," she exclaimed, her face lighting up with joy as she jumped up from her chair and hurried towards him.
Arkadi's smile widened as he reached out to ruffle her hair affectionately. "Hey there, Ambika. How's it going?"
Ambika's smile grew even brighter at his familiar touch. "I've been trying to solve this math problem, but it's really hard," she admitted, gesturing towards the equation on her desk.
Arkadi, Lev's closest companion, was a familiar presence in their home, often gracing it with his visits. Unlike Lev, Arkadi's demeanor towards Ambika was characterized by an innate gentleness and kindness. His affection for her knew no bounds, offering her unwavering support, understanding, and care without ever expecting anything in return.
"Wait let me solve it for you." Arkadi said.
Ambika watched with a mixture of gratitude and anticipation as Arkadi approached her desk. She knew she could always count on him to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return. His unconditional love and kindness had been a constant source of comfort and support in her life.
"Thank you, Arkadi," she murmured, feeling a swell of warmth in her chest as he sat down beside her.
With practiced ease, Arkadi began to work through the math problem, his movements fluid and confident. Ambika marveled at his skill, feeling a sense of awe wash over her as she watched him effortlessly unravel the complexities of the equation.
As he reached the solution, Arkadi glanced up at Ambika with a triumphant smile. "There you go, all solved."
Ambika's eyes widened in amazement as she looked down at the paper, now adorned with Arkadi's neat handwriting and the correct answer. She couldn't help but feel a surge of admiration for her friend, grateful for his unwavering support and encouragement.
"Wow, Arkadi, you're amazing!" she exclaimed.
Arkadi's smile faltered as his gaze landed on the red bruise marring Ambika's neck, a frown creasing his brow. Concern etched into his features, he gently inquired, "Lev did it, didn't he?"
Ambika's smile vanished, replaced by a flicker of discomfort as she instinctively attempted to conceal the bruise with her hands, nodding silently in response to Arkadi's question.
A heavy sigh escaped Arkadi's lips as he shook his head in disappointment, his resolve firming as he rose from his seat and made his way to the first aid box. Retrieving a tube of ointment, he returned to Ambika's side, determined to provide her with both physical and emotional solace in the wake of Lev's actions.
