Ambika stood on her tiptoes, her tongue peeking out from the corner of her mouth as she stretched her hand towards the top shelf of the cupboard, searching for her favorite chocolate chip cookies. The kitchen was quiet, the only sound being the soft rustle of her movements.
Suddenly, she felt a presence behind her. A hand brushed her hair aside from her shoulder, making her shiver. Another hand reached into the cupboard, effortlessly retrieving the box she had been struggling to grasp.
The thin hand held the box in front of her, and a voice, smooth and teasing, whispered, "Are you looking for this?"
A shiver of fear ran down her spine. Ambika quickly grabbed the cookie box and tried to dart away, but a firm grip closed around her wrist.
"Where are you running away, sweety?" Lev's voice was laced with a sly smirk, his eyes gleaming with a mischievous glint.
Ambika's heart raced as she looked up at him, her pulse quickening under his gaze. She tugged at her hand, trying to free herself, but his grip tightened.
"L-Let go, Lev," she demanded, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and defiance.
He chuckled softly, his fingers brushing lightly over her wrist. "Why the rush, Ambika? We were just getting started."
She glared at him, her eyes narrowing. "Let go or I will scream."
"Scream?" Lev laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "Scream and tell what?"
Ambika felt the old fear flooding back, washing over her like a dark, suffocating tide. The trauma she had tried so hard to bury resurfaced, clawing at her insides, rendering her mute and paralyzed. Lev had been her tormentor, the source of countless nightmares, and now, standing before him, she felt herself shrinking back into the terrified girl she once was.
"I-I..." she stammered, her voice barely a whisper. She hated how weak she felt, how easily he could reduce her to this state.
With a swift motion, Lev yanked her towards him, making her stumble and fall against his chest. Her breath hitched, fear tightening her throat.
"Yes, I am listening. Tell me," he mocked, his voice dripping with a victorious smirk.
A tear of humiliation escaped her eye, tracing a wet path down her cheek. "T-Tell everyone w-what... W-wha—" she tried to say, but her words faltered, caught in the web of her fear.
Before she could finish, he burst into laughter, a sound that sent chills down her spine. "Aww, I love how docile my little slut is. Just as weak as before," he sneered, cupping her face with his hand.
She flinched at his touch, her eyes wide and filled with a mixture of terror and defiance. His grip was firm, his thumb brushing roughly against her cheek, wiping away her tear as if savoring her vulnerability.
"But I am disappointed. You disappointed me, my dumb little slut," Lev said, his voice dripping with contempt.
Ambika's heart shattered at the humiliating and vulgar nickname.
"I can't believe there are love bites all over your body," he pointed out, his eyes narrowing with feigned incredulity. "I can't believe you cheated on me!"
"Let me go!" she pleaded, her voice breaking with desperation.
"And with whom? That beastly bastard?!" he spat, his face contorting with disgust. "How do you even manage with him?!"
"Let me go!" she pleaded once more, her voice rising in desperation, her body trembling with the need to escape.
Lev looked at her, his eyes gleaming with a twisted satisfaction. "Um, okay..." he said with a mocking shrug, finally releasing his grip on her.
