Jungkook strode through the familiar corridors, each step burdened with the weight of memories etched into his heart like scars from a rusty nail. His fists clenched tightly at his sides, his entire body tense with anticipation of the forthcoming conversation with Taehyung and his grandmother.

His gaze was icy, his skin eas looking pale, betraying the turmoil raging within him. Yet, despite the turmoil, his steps remained strady, each footfall echoing loudly on the wooden floor, the sound filling the quiet corridor. The walls, adorned with old-fashioned, boring paintings, seemed to close in around him, adding to the oppressive atmosphere weighing heavily on his shoulders.

Jungkook pushed open the heavy door and entered the room, his stoic expression betraying none of the turmoil brewing within him. He braced himself for the onslaught of harsh, hurtful words and familiar tales of sacrifice that his grandmother often recounted, reminders intended to shape his character and mold him into the heir she desired.

Today, however, was different. With Taehyung's presence looming, Jungkook anticipated an added layer of complexity to the familial drama. While his cousin typically avoided entanglement in such affairs, Jungkook knew that after the events in Jeju, Taehyung would not hesitate to stand against of him in every step he takes.

Jungkook entered the royal dining area, his presence drawing the attention of both his grandmother and Taehyung. Halting in his path, he bowed respectfully to his grandmother, adhering to the customary greeting. His grandmother responded with a dismissive roll of her eyes, a gesture that spoke volumes about her disdain.

Meanwhile, Taehyung was reluctant to continue his lunch, to indulge himself into his favorite seared steak with asparagus on the side. His senses perked briefly to Jungkook as he entered, but he made no move to acknowledge his cousin's presence.

Jungkook observed the scene before him with a steely resolve, bracing himself for the inevitable confrontation that lay ahead.

As Jungkook's presence continued to linger in the room, Taehyung's simmering anger became palpable. His clenched jaw and abandoned utensils hinted at the disruption Jungkook's arrival had caused to his meal, his appetite soured by his cousin's mere presence.

Ignoring Taehyung's reaction, their grandmother addressed Jungkook with a semblance of formality, her words filled with both praise and expectation. "Son, I'm pleased to hear that you handled those barbarian Russians so adeptly," she remarked, offering a smile that's for a brief moment before her expression shifted to one of seriousness as she turned her attention fully to Jungkook.

"Yeah, it's all taken care of, no issues," Jungkook replied tersely, mirroring his grandmother's tone.

"Hmmm... however, I wanted to know what was so important for you to stay there for one more night?", her next question prompted a subtle shift in his demeanor, his expression momentarily faltering before regaining its composure. Her raised brows and annoyed demeanor signaled her disapproval of his actions, causing Jungkook to squint his eyes.
