Jungkook stepped out into the hall where the event for Jimin's new drama theater show was taking place. A cigarette dangled from his lips as he tried to calm the anger simmering inside him. His eyes scanned the room, searching for the one sight that brought him any semblance of peace.
Despite the crowd of investors eagerly trying to engage him, his focus was solely on Jimin. Even as the room buzzed with conversations and opportunities, Jungkook only had eyes for the person his heart truly belonged to. Jimin was smiling, shaking hands with people, and conversing with them as if nothing had happened just moments before.
Jungkook forced himself to engage with the investors who had gathered around him, though his mind was elsewhere. He had to endure this gathering, pretend to be present, but all he really wanted was to keep looking at Jimin's beautiful face for as long as possible.
The mask Jimin wore in public, the easy smiles and gracious nods, did little to ease the turmoil inside Jungkook. It only made the contrast between their private and public moments more painful. How could Jimin be so composed after what had just happened between them? Jungkook wondered if anyone else could see through the facade, see the pain he felt every time he looked at Jimin.
He continued to entertain the investors, his mind constantly drifting back to Jimin, whose presence filled the room with an effortless grace. It was almost cruel how perfect Jimin appeared to everyone else while Jungkook struggled to keep his emotions in check. The gap between them felt insurmountable, and yet, Jungkook couldn't tear his gaze away. Even in this crowded room, with so many people demanding his attention, Jimin was the only one who mattered.
But Jungkook knew that before he could reach out to Jimin, before he could even think of mending what was broken between them, he had to fix something else. He needed to finish what he had started by marrying Eva. Only then could he hope to find some resolution, some way to close the distance between them, but the question is how will he spend those 365 days without Jimin?
Jungkook had been doing his best to remain calm, keeping his emotions in check, when the atmosphere in the banquet hall shifted. Through the entrance walked Taehyung, moving with a confidence that made it seem like he owned the place. Just like Jungkook, people greeted Taehyung warmly, acknowledging his presence with respect. But as soon as Taehyung’s eyes landed on Jimin and he began making his way over, Jungkook’s patience snapped.
Taehyung approached Jimin, who was engaged in conversation with someone else, and without hesitation, wrapped his arms around the omega in a hug. The sight made Jungkook’s fists clench tightly, his eyes narrowing with anger. The urge to act became impossible to resist, and he strode toward them, his steps fueled by a brewing storm of emotions.
“Hey! Jimin-ah!” Taehyung whispered, his hand gently caressing Jimin’s bare back. Though the gesture was meant to be friendly, it made Jimin uncomfortable. The memory of their kiss at the party still lingered in his mind—a kiss that had been nothing more than a reaction to Jungkook’s betrayal. But despite the awkwardness, Jimin knew he had to greet Taehyung properly. He pulled back from the hug, offering Taehyung a small smile and a nod.
