"Anna, please, at least listen to them," Sivan Shanmugam—Krithika's youngest uncle—pleaded, tapping on the door of his brother's bedroom.
After finishing their tea, Xavier and his friends had been instructed to wait in the living room. They were informed that the Shanmugam trio—the men of the house—had gone out to discuss a business deal and might return by midday. Patiently, they all sat, waiting for their return.
Krithika's aunts had been relentlessly feeding them with far too many delicacies, prompting Farhan to joke, "Are you ladies trying to poison us? Should I be worried about some Tamil version of Jolly Joseph?"
Balamurugan—Krithika's eldest cousin—had returned after his boxing practice, only to find the living room crowded with guests. Without a word, he locked himself in his room, which, to Satya, had amusingly reminded her of her own husband.
Krithika sat quietly in a corner of the room with Preethi, who animatedly chatted about her progress in Carnatic singing. Once, her eyes met Xavier's, and she blushed as though it were their first meeting.
Meanwhile, Karthik sat beside Xavier, talking to everyone except Farhan. Noticing this, Farhan teased, "Kid, you're not still holding a grudge against me, are you?"
To this, Karthik retorted, "I'm just being respectful. Isn't that what you demanded earlier?" His quick wit earned chuckles from Krishna and Satya.
As expected, when the Shanmugam sons arrived and learned about the eldest child's love story, Ashok Shanmugam erupted in a loud outcry. Without another word, he stormed out of the room and locked himself in his bedroom, leaving his brothers and the rest of the family scrambling after him.
Krishna had advised the others to stay put, cautioning them not to interfere in the family drama. "Let him come out and address us. He needs to respect our presence," he stated firmly.
Farhan, unimpressed, shrugged. "Anyway, I'm not gonna beg that bloke."
