Janet's P.O.V

We sat in silence after grandma Mari stopped talking. That is a lot of information to take in.

"So, mom can do magic?" asked Kaiden.

"Not under normal means. The magic she unknowingly used was dark magic. By hurting and killing humans and animals a certain way on or near a dark magic sigil, you can get magic. If you are not born able to use magic then you can't without dark magic. Once I told your mom about it, she never wanted to do black magic again and she has not." answers grandma Mari.

I get this huge urge to run. Just run away, this is crazy! I do run, I run hard and I run fast. I ran past the guest house. I ran past the trees behind the guest house. I ran to my safe by the river in a tree. I like climbing trees just like mom. I remember talking to my brother and him saying that Sally shares the same view point as us. The thing is, I don't have the dream as if I am on the side of the woman. I dream of being the women. Instead of just watching her in pain, I am feeling the pain as I cut my soul in half. I started this whole thing. I just don't know how or why. I almost don't want to know. I feel like it is better to be ignorant in this. I am scared to learn what lead up to murder. I think I killed that man in there, in the memory. 

Werewolves, witches, and magic. Oh my! I still can't believe it all. Mom was so serious when telling us what happened. That is the most intense I have ever seen her. She told us the journey was really hard before meeting our grandparents when we were little. I still don't know half of it. That man next to Marco was intriguing. Even knowing he was Rusty I still feel safe around him. Sally might be feeling the same with Marco. It might be even worse for her since has been with her for a few months.

I realized that I forgot my phone on the table when I ran. Good thing I don't need it. I sat on a thick tree limb and calmed down for a while. I hear rustling from the ground coming this way. I look down to see Swipe coming this way. I climb down to greet him and in his mouth a strap that has my phone at the end due to my phone case. The master thief does it again! But he brought it to me this time. He is sweet, he did good at tracking me down. I sit down on soft moss and grab my phone from Swipe. As he lays right against my legs my phone beeps with a notification. It has to be magic for me to have great service here. 

I look at the message that someone from school sent. My heart drops. I sent it to my brother. Where are we going to live now? My childhood home is burning to the ground in such a blame that it might spread to other houses. I realize the time is 12. I have been alone for a while. 

I need to say this out loud or I will run away from it. It also helps me come to terms with difficult things. A coping skill I learned that works for me.

"Okay, let's start out small. My brother joined a gang called Sun Vipers. My childhood home burns down after a creepy man finds out where my mom lives. Also claims to be my mother's brother. I've seen 2 wolves turn into grown adult men. Me and Kaiden are not the only ones to dream that memory. On top of sleeping in one room soon to know the truth.....What if I don't want to learn the truth? What if I just ran away?"

"Then you would be running for your whole life and on top of endangering innocent lives."

I whipped around to see Scarlett to the side wearing light pink shorts and a red tank top with red tennis shoes. She sits next to me. It has not been long since Swipe got here.

"The being that clan worships, is very very evil. The clan uses black magic because it's evil and to bring their master into this world. From what information I have gotten over the years, is that evil thing wants to find you 4 and torture you guys for some reason. He has a huge grudge against you guys. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. But ignorance is dangerous right now. Knowledge is powerful here. Everyone is scared of the unknown. You and the others are key to a way to get through this. To win this battle."

I cannot let innocent people get hurt because of me. I would let my mother and brother down, too. I also can't let them deal with this themselves either. Why can't I live an easy life? I am a coward. I am scared of facing the truth. I have tears slowly going down my face. I feel an arm holding me. I calm down after a bit. She wipes my face with her hand like a big sister. I know I have known her for a very short time but she feels like a big sister I never had.

"Thank you, I needed that. You are right, I can't run away from this. I have no choice but to face it head on. You said everyone is scared of the unknown. That means everyone has my back and I got theirs." I said.

Then something made noise. Swipe looks at my stomach and I am a red in the face, almost matching Scarlett's clothing. 

She laughs and says,"I was sent here to get you for lunch. Teacher is making her famous stuffed burgers with macaroni salad-"

I interrupted her as I jumped up real fast,"We better hurry before all that food is gone. I want my share."

She follows me as I lightly run back. I don't want to be out of breath when I get there. Grandma Mari's cooking is amazing. She once told a story on how she stopped a war by threatening to never cook for either side ever again in the meeting room. I believe it too. I can almost taste that burger.
