We got to the city's outer ring two days ago and were almost immediately found by a group with the same desire to get rid of WCKD as us. I don't believe we would have trusted them, except they had a pretty convincing reason to; Gally.

I don't understand. We thought he died. I often think about that day. The day we lost Chuck and Gally. It tears me in two every time. Gally told us that the leader of this group found him and stitched him up. I can't help but feel like it's some kind of miracle.

Gally told us he had a way we could get into the WCKD building, and took us to meet Lawrence, the leader. Lawrence is a crank that has had it worse than others. He may not be past the gone, thanks to the IV he's attached to, but he looks like he should be. Thomas assumed the IV held a temporary cure for the Flare virus.

After we talked to Lawrence, Gally took me and Thomas through a drainage system to get to the other side of the wall. We had to leave Brenda, Frypan, and Jorge behind as an incentive for us to return. That was Lawrence's request.

The tunnels led onto a train platform, where we walked straight into a massive crowd of people. They must have all been in a rush to get home. We pushed through them, and Gally took us to the inner side of the wall, up some stairs, until we reached a ledge that looked toward the WCKD building. Gally had been carrying a bag, and when we got to the ledge, he opened it and took out a telescope. He set it up, aimed it, and stepped aside for Thomas to look. Gally said that what Thomas could see was the only way we could get into the building, and why Gally's group needed Thomas.

I didn't see what it was, but Gally whispered beside me that he pointed the telescope at Teresa. I forced myself not to roll my eyes. Of course, she would be the reason. Thomas wouldn't be able to help himself. He's in love with her. I've wanted to tell him it's pointless because she's clearly not interested, but I know how he'd react. He never lets anyone say a bad word about her, even if she betrayed us.

When we finally returned to Lawrence's hideout, Gally met with only our little group, catching them up on what we saw. Thomas refused to use Teresa as a way to get in, and that made me furious. We had one chance to get Minho back for good, and he wanted to throw it all away because of her. Thomas argued that we could use Katya, but Jorge countered. He said it was too likely that she would be monitored after so many attacks on WCKD and her being closely involved with 'us'.

I didn't mean to yell at Thomas, but I couldn't control myself. It's like a switch flicked inside me. That's been happening a lot lately, but normally I manage to contain it. This time, I was completely unable to. I know why it's happening. It's the same reason why I can't look at my arm.

Last night, Thomas finally agreed to use Teresa as our way in. He and Gally constructed a plan for him to get her and bring her back here. Frypan laughed, saying she would only come if she knew I was here. I didn't understand what he meant and asked him, but he just laughed harder. When I looked at Thomas, he was already staring at me with his jaw clenched. He said nothing. I realise now that it's the same thing Katya told me about. She thought Teresa and I were an item in the Maze.

Thomas and Gally went out to get Teresa. When they returned, Teresa ran and tackled me to the ground. She was hugging me so tight I couldn't breathe. I patted her on the back awkwardly and pushed her off so I could stand back up. She's gone crazy. Thomas told me later that Frypan was right. I was the only reason Teresa followed him out of the city.

Right now, Gally is laying out his and Lawrence's plan to all of us, including Teresa. Gally, Thomas, and I are to dress as WCKD security guards and act as Teresa's bodyguards. Gally has the uniforms and launcher guns on the table, ready. Teresa is standing next to me, her arm pressed against mine. Frypan keeps looking over at us and smirking. I wish we got Katya instead. I would much prefer this behaviour from her. I would just prefer her, period.

"Okay, does everyone understand the plan?" Gally looks around at all of us, watching each of us nod or mumble 'yes'. He smiles and grabs one of the suits from the table. Thomas grabs the remaining two and hands one to me. I thank him before finding a room to get dressed in. I pray Teresa doesn't follow me.

When I'm done getting dressed, I walk back to where everyone else is waiting, and we prepare to go our separate ways. I won't put the helmet on until we're on the other side of the wall. I follow Gally's lead and walk out of the concrete building with Thomas and Teresa. Teresa walks beside me almost the whole way.

I excuse myself and shuffle over to Gally once we're at the train station. "Hey, man. Can I ask you something?"

"Is it about saving your girlfriend in WCKD?" He looks at me and smirks. "I assumed the other girl you were all talking about yesterday meant something to you. She seemed to strike a nerve. I could tell from your ugly face. Yeah, we can try and save her. If we have time, and if you can find her."

"Thank you," I say shyly, smiling at him.

"No worries, Shank. She better be worth it."
