Thaïs hummed to herself as she pressed the button for floor three on the elevator. As soon as she stepped off, her heels rattled with every confident step she took. She now felt like her normal self, ready to handle business. Pushing open her office door, she observed the space, confirming everything was in place. She opened the blinds fully to let in all the sunlight, smiling to herself as she began to unpack her work bag with all the essentials.

Usually, Thaïs worked remotely because she valued her space and disliked interruptions, but occasionally she made surprise appearances at Psalms Agency. She relished the annoyed looks on her coworkers' faces, knowing they couldn't stand her. Thaïs also felt she had spent too much time cooped up inside in the past month. While she loved being with her family, they could be overbearing at times.

Letting out a long sigh, Thaïs opened her laptop to check her email. She played rain sounds on her Alexa to help her concentrate. However, before she could open an email from Taylor, two employees made an appearance in her office. Thaïs tore her eyes away from her computer, her annoyance evident. "Yes, Taylor?"

"You have no idea how happy I am to see you!" Taylor beamed, taking a seat across from her boss. The last time she had seen Thaïs in the office was probably three months ago. While they often communicated via Slack or Zoom, her presence was deeply missed by the intern. "Ms. Rivera, these people have been killing me."

Thaïs chuckled at Taylor before shutting her computer. She noticed the young man standing behind her and offered him a seat. "You can sit. And tell me your name."

"I'm Caleb Reid, the new marketing manager. I started about three months ago. It's nice to meet you, Ms. Rivera." The young man took a seat next to Taylor.

Thaïs nodded in response before refocusing on Taylor. Whether she didn't check the Slack channel often enough or simply didn't care to remember his name remained uncertain. "Taylor, what's been going on?"

"Other than the fact that I cannot stand anyone here, not much. They need to understand that I work for you and assist with your clients. It doesn't matter if you're here or not," Taylor ranted. Although she was still an intern, Thaïs had entrusted her with more responsibilities than the other interns because she was a college graduate.

The older woman rolled her eyes, not at Taylor, but at the idea of her coworkers bothering her. "I'll have to talk to them about that. You know your internship is coming to an end, and I plan to discuss promoting you to the position of Junior Publicist with my boss."

Taylor's eyes widened, and she exchanged a look with Caleb. "You would do that for me?"

"Of course. You're the best intern here, even if you do call me at three in the morning over unimportant matters," Thaïs joked lightly. Taylor was dedicated to her job, often working long hours on projects. Thaïs would wake up to at least fifty messages on a good day.

"I think calling you to inform you about your clients' Twitter rants is important. But you're not as bad as people say you are," Taylor laughed. After hours, Thaïs was humorous and easy-going, yet she was also serious about her job and career, striking a perfect balance.
