Mariah struggled to clasp the diamond-encrusted necklace she'd been given as a birthday gift due to her long acrylics. She usually kept them at a reasonable length, but this time she went a little bit longer than her usual. She'd been trying to put the necklace on for about 15 minutes now and nothing seemed to be working.

Mariah groaned in defeat; she was eager to wear the necklace to her party tonight because it went together perfectly with her outfit. She set the necklace in her jewelry box and let out a long sigh.

"What's the matter, Buckles?" Thaïs appeared from the hallway. She gently placed the clothes in her hand on the bed before taking a seat next to Mariah, who laid with her head facing the ceiling. She glanced at Mariah before laughing to herself, "Did you figure out what you're doing with your hair?"

Mariah sat up and ran her hands through the bird's nest. "No." She let out another sigh before placing her head on Thaïs' shoulder, "I can't clasp my necklace cause of these dumb ass nails."

Thaïs laughed at her. She assumed it would've been because of something pressing, but Mariah was dramatic after all. "I'll do it for you. Come on." Thaïs pulled her over to the vanity and grabbed the necklace. She gently clasped the delicate necklace around Mariah's neck, her fingertips grazing the soft skin as she carefully secured the clasp. They both stood in front of the mirror, their eyes meeting through the reflection.

Thaïs couldn't help but notice the slight blush that tinted Mariah's cheeks as their gazes locked. A mischievous smile played at the corners of Thaïs' lips as she leaned in closer, her breath warm against Mariah's ear.

"You look pretty," Thaïs whispered, her voice barely audible, yet carrying an unmistakable undertone of flirtation. She quickly followed up with a lighthearted joke, "Even if your hair looks crazy."

Mariah's eyes sparkled as she met Thaïs' playful gaze in the mirror. She tilted her head, her smile growing more pronounced. "Watch yourself, Rivera. Crazy hair and all, I'm still the baddest bitch you ever laid yo eyes on."

Thaïs chuckled, her voice filled with a mixture of amusement and admiration. "Oh, I don't doubt that for a second," she replied, her tone oozing with playful sarcasm. "You've got the 'baddest bitch' title locked down."

Their playful exchange filled the room with camaraderie, both women feeling a newfound closeness as they shared this intimate moment. Thaïs stepped back, taking in the sight of Mariah in the mirror, the necklace adding a touch of elegance to her already radiant presence.

"You know," Mariah said, her voice teasing, "I think I might need you to help me with my hair, too."

Thaïs feigned surprise, placing a hand over her heart in mock shock. "Oh, but earlier you didn't want me anywhere near your hair." Thaïs had been at Mariah's home since that morning; Mariah wanted an updo, but neither of them knew how to do what she wanted, so Thaïs decided straight hair would be better. Mariah thought straight hair was basic for the occasion, but Thaïs said beggars can't be choosers.
