Love is a losing game.

At least that's what Mariah thought from time to time during her relationship with Brandon. Love wasn't supposed to make you feel suffocated in your own relationship. They'd been dating for years and she felt as if their relationship was still surface level. By now, she'd imagine herself at least engaged. She can't be a girlfriend for another three years.

From the outside, it seemed as if they were couple goals or living in a fairytale, but it wasn't like that. Mariah was more interested in starting a family and having a white picket fence. Whereas Brandon was too into playing house than taking Mariah seriously. These past months have opened her eyes to the fact that their relationship was getting nowhere.

Mariah often wondered if Brandon stayed with her because of her name. The sex was good, not the best she'd had, but it was satisfactory. Brandon wasn't very romantic, and Ry was a sucker for anything that had to do with love. She put that to the side because she loved him. But now it was like the effort was completely gone.

Maybe they had different motives. Mariah's was to get the magical wedding she always dreamed of, and Brandon's was to have a pretty lady on his arm at all times. Brandon wasn't really good at whatever this "love" thing was. Mariah didn't know why it took so long to see it, but lately, she had been around people who showed her what love really was, and it wasn't this.

Mariah was currently writing a list of creative ideas she had in mind for her upcoming album rollout to forward to Morgan. Thaïs found her a publicist and she was excellent at her job, but she was still used to Morgan doing everything with her. Taylor, Thaïs' intern, worked for Mariah and helped with whatever she needed. Everything was overseen by Thaïs just to make sure things were done correctly. Taylor was good at her job, but Thaïs had a reputation to maintain.
