Mariah's eyes shot open and she frantically looked for her ringing cell phone before the sleeping body next to her was awoken. She fluffed the comforter a few times before her phone fell to the floor. The bowl of popcorn she'd forgotten about ended up spilling as well. She let a few curse words slip as she rushed to the phone. As soon as she went to grab it, it stopped ringing. She rolled her eyes when she read the notification. Only Dess would call her at 2 a.m.

She quickly and quietly went to the kitchen to grab a broom and dustpan so she could clean up the mess. After she finished, she set it next to her bed as a reminder to return it in the morning. Climbing back into the bed, Mariah pulled the covers back so she could get a few hours of sleep. She turned on her side so she faced the middle of the bed before shutting her eyes.

She felt the bed shift under her but kept her eyes closed. Mariah thought she was as quiet as a church mouse, but it was probably the annoying default Apple ringtone which failed her. The room was silent for a few moments before the other person in the room spoke.

"Ry?"

Mariah opened her eyes and saw two almond-shaped eyes looking at her. There was a little bit of light coming in from the vented skylight, so she could see just enough. Mariah pushed the girl's curly hair from her face to give her a better look. Mariah's hand brushed her cheek accidentally, and she quickly pulled away.

"Yeah, Em?" Mariah said lazily.

"What time is it?" She was too lazy to grab her phone off the nightstand and her Apple watch was dead. She honestly didn't think she would be asleep for that long, especially in Mariah's bed.

"It's like 2:30. Go back to sleep," Mariah told her. The girl nodded before closing her eyes and Mariah did the same. She ended up falling asleep within five minutes, but it took Mariah another hour to go to sleep due to her clouded mind.

Thaïs and Mariah finally found a day in which neither of them was busy. Mariah proposed they have a movie night at her house and Thaïs was quick to agree. She wanted Mariah to watch her favorite movie, Moonlight, which she suggested to everyone she met. They watched one movie prior to playing it, so by the middle of the movie, Thaïs was snoring in Mariah's bed. She worked around 55 hours that week, including 10 on the day of the movie night, so she was exhausted.

Mariah, on the other hand, wasn't one bit tired, but it would be useless to watch the movie alone. She went and got a silk pillow to put under Thaïs' head while she slept, then ended up going to sleep as well. Mariah was so excited to spend time with Thaïs, she completely forgot she and Dess booked studio time for the night. They had been three times this week, so Mariah thought she would be fine if she missed just one day.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐗𝐓 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆...

Mariah woke up to Thaïs' arm across her abdomen while her head lightly sat on her scapula. Her light snores filled the room, which Mariah thought it was so adorable. She reached her left hand out to grab her phone from the nightstand to capture the moment. She laughed to herself as she rewatched the video. Noticing it was almost nine in the morning, Mariah gently pushed Thaïs' head onto her pillow and moved her arm. She tossed the cover to the side before getting out of bed.
