I was driving since I could think. And when you do the thing you only ever thought about, there are not many other things that matter to you. Until you are completely blown away by your teammate during your first season of formula 1 and you think:

Should I not be 100% focused on driving, especially now? Fuck, this shit is important! And since when am I gay? But how could I have known when I only thought about fast cars my entire life. I do not blame myself for that but I blame myself for who I fell for. I mean seriously, Lando Norris? I can see that he is handsome with his fluffy curly hair and dreamy green eyes and his slighty mischievous smile and ... Stop, I have a meeting at McLaren in uhh... 3 minutes, shit.

"Ah Oscar, come in ... no worries, Lando is also late, we didn't start yet." I nod and sit down next to Zak. He welcomed me very friendly at the beginning of my first formula 1 season which is why I am even more disappointed that I couldn't prove myself to him yet. I know it is not all my fault because of our weak car at first but now, with the new upgrade, I should be better.

The last race in Austria was so bad for me and I don't know what happend. While I finished P16 Lando reached P4 and became driver of the day. Of course I was happy for him but I also envied him so damn much, I always do. Even last year after I won the formula 2 Championship I was only a test driver in f1. I attended the grand prix in Imola and secretly watched the podium ceremony where Lando looked so ... divine, his head proudly raised and his tongue sticking out during the champagne fight, very cocky and ...

"Oi Osc, you have some drool there, were you dreaming of me?" I snap out of my daydream and immediately blush. The whole table laughs. When you have Lando as a teammate you need to be prepared for jokes at your expense at any time. I am also practicing good comebacks which I try this time too.

"I dreamed of you coming to the meeting on time and not letting everybody wait for you." One corner of Landos mouth twichted to form a slight smile which showed a sign of suprise but also a want to challenge me. "Yeah, you are right, you were a good boy being on time, Oscar", he said in a mocking voice, giving me a big smile. I couldn't help but smile back, as always.

Zak interrupted our little game and began to talk about the next race, Silverstone, Landos home race. To be honest, I had a hard time listening while watching the hands from Lando who was sitting right next to me. The little movements showed his muscels and arteries and ... wow I should be listening maybe then I can score some points or even get on the podium.

Zak told us now that the cars had a new upgrade again and that we could have good chances this Sunday which filled me with excitement but also put me a bit under pressure, I have to deliver now. In the end of the meeting Lando and I were told that we have to stay here for one PR shooting before we would drive to the paddock for the rest of the media day.

"Hey mate, ready for the day?", Lando asks me while we wait for the interview to start. „As ready as you can get", I answer with a fake smile. The truth is I hate the media stuff, Lando was naturally funny but I felt so awkward every time. I was much more confident and even funny sometimes in formula 2.

But this year with new people, a much bigger audience and the, in my opinion, funniest person on earth next to me it was more difficult to be actually funny. Also this time, like every other time, I only managed to laugh about his jokes and smile like an idiot. Whatever. It is the racing that is important (which I currently suck at), I do not care if people like me (I do, especially if it is the person who just offered to drive me to the paddock).

"Thanks for the ride. I stayed with a friend last night who lives nearby and he drove me hear in the morning. I just didn't think about getting to the paddock later", I said to him, sitting on the passenger seat of his very expensive looking car. "No problem mate, so you stayed with your boyfriend last night?", he asked jokingly. I only answer with a stretched "Ha ha". But I can feel the blood rushing into my cheeks. I cough and try to hold a normal conversation, at least unitl we reach the paddock.

It did go well... more or less. We talked about the upcoming race and some ideas for a strategy but you cannot really plan those until after Qualifying. Just as I was about to get out of the car, Lando grabbed my shoulder and said "Do you need a ride to our hotel? We could go to the gym there, do a little work out before Practice tomorrow, what do you think?" I froze by his touch, unable to speak at first. When I found my voice again it sounded itchy so I just said "Yeah, sure, thanks again".

Lando smiled which made me smile too. "But what about your stuff, is it still by your friend? Should we pick it up after today?" Startled by his kindness I looked right into his friendly eyes. He really meant it, he was not joking which surprised me. It's not that Lando is a mean person, besides all his jokes, but he is not a personified angel either. "No worries, I have the essentials with me and my friend can bring the rest tomorrow", I said.

"Okay, then lets go Osc, have some fun." He jumped out of the car and left me speechless, still feeling the spot where is hand layed warm and throbbing, even through my shirt.

This will be a long day for me when Lando is in such a good mood. But I secretly love it.
