AN: I want to dedicate this chapter to my pookie and fellow f1 bestie. We became fans of this sport and its drivers at the same time and since then there is not one practice, quali or race where we don’t text the other during the whole broadcast. And because we always say we are Lestappen (she as a Max girlie, me as a Charles girlie) I thought let’s bring them into the story. It’s just a short scene at the end but I hope you enjoy <3

And these are the last two chapters …

Japanese Grand Prix – part 2

Race day

"Didn’t I say I just want peace for us?“ I whined, my arms hanging loosely around Landos neck.

"But where is the fun?“ He grinned and it sounds a bit weak but that was already enough to convince me to go through with the plan we had for Carlos. And if I’m honest I liked what Lando and Alex – the wicked minds of our team – thought of as a revenge. Just the possibilities of what could go wrong scared me.

As expected Alex called us half an hour before the national anthem of Japan would be performed.

Carlos is on the way to our garage, according to Charles. He told Carlos what he should – that he has to do an interview here and all that. You two can come here now too but go to the front of the garage, Logan is waiting there to let you in.

Thanks Alex.

Lando and I said it at the same time, you could nearly hear Alex rolling his eyes. He hung up and I let go of Lan (to our mutual displeasure). On the way to the Williams garage I thought about the poor souls we used for our plan.

One of them was Charles who was so naiv, you could tell him anything and he’d believe every word. So pretending today on the phone to be a real reporter was almost too easy for Alex. He convinced him that he and Carlos had to give an interview at the Williams garage but seperately, Carlos before the race and Charles after.

All this was in order to not let Carlos get suspicious. Of course Lando and I had to stay out of it because he’d knew instantly we planned something and Alex also couldn’t just invite Carlos personally after he saw in the club what side he stood on. Pretending on the phone to be somebody else was also a risk, particularly with a less naiv, although not really smarter, person than Charles. And making Carlos believe they both had an interview was also to make it look less suspicious for him.

After Logan let us both in we just saw Carlos going into a room after an engineer (we told not even half the plan) directed him there. The whole Williams team doesn’t know much besides the fact that Alex planned a prank and they didn’t ask many questions. Seems like there just as used to him as McLaren is to Lando and his peculiarities. Important was that the whole thing could start now.

Alex appeared from nowhere and locked the door of the room Carlos was in. Before, Alex and Logan made sure the whole room was darkened so he wouldn’t be distracted from his thinking lesson. Lando, Logan and I stepped forward now until we stood next to Alex right in front of the door.

"Hi Carlos, it’s me. Former best mate, now greatest enemy. Does it ring a bell?“, Lando asked as fake-nice as you can get.

"Lando, let me out.“ Carlos on the other hand sounded more serious as if he didn’t want to play. But did I have the right to chose if I wanted to play his games? No – so now I had some last words for him.

"Enjoy the playlist we put together for you, featuring a personal message from you to yourself and some hits like Born This Way and You Need To Calm Down. I really hope this small room and the soon starting race let you stay calm. Bye“
