Alejandra really needed a new best friend. Okay, no she was just being dramatic. She wouldn't trade her friendship with Lola for the world.

But, she had come by Lola's house, thinking they were going to go shopping, but to her surprise, her friend practically cornered her, insisting they were going to watch Lola's favorite franchise, the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

All of them.

In order.

Now, it's not like she hated the movies (she's never seen them), she just wasn't interested. Alejandra was the type of person to go outside and go to the mall, or the arcade, literally anything as long as it was out of the house.

Sitting still for long periods and focusing on a screen isn't her preferred way of spending her time.

"But, why now?!" Alejandra whined. "You know there's a sale right now!"

Lola rolled her eyes. "You know damn well there's gonna be plenty of sales. Avengers Endgame came out and I've been holding off watching it so that you can understand everything. Now, sit down."

"Fine." Alejandra sighed, plopping down on the couch. This was something Alejandra was putting off, but she knew this was something her friend really wanted to do and she would be a bad friend if she didn't do stuff her friend wanted to do as well, right?

That would seem like an obvious yes, but there was still a part of her that made her feel like a bad person because she still didn't want to.

Instead of voicing her opinion though, she opted to give her friend a wry look. "But, I'm only watching the movies that are already out. If they make new ones, I'm not watching them...unless they're like really good."

"Wait, seriously?!" Her friend's excitement was clear.

"Yes." Alejandra chuckled, but was dying on the inside. "Now hurry and put it on before I change my mind."

Lola's delighted squeal filled the room as she leaped over the couch grabbing the remote, eager to begin.

-------

"That was a shitty ending."

"Seriously?" Lola exclaimed in disbelief as she grabbed another tissue. "How are you not crying right now?!"

"I mean, it is sad, but the shittiness is taking over my sympathy right now. But, we seriously spent hours watching every single one, and that's how it ends?"

"It wasn't bad, it was realistic!" Lola argued.

"So you're okay with the way it ends?"

"I mean..." Her friend sighed and started to ponder it herself. "I mean, yeah, Steve leaving his best friend didn't really make sense-

"And what about your fav dying? That was dumb. Natasha was so iconic."

"Ugh don't remind me!" Lola sobbed as her tears started flowing again.

"See?" Alejandra pointed out knowingly.

"Okay, but that doesn't mean it was bad. It had to be one of them. It was inevitable." Lola explained.

'Was it?' Alejandra wondered. 'Well guess it doesn't matter what she thought, it was written and final'

"Eh, I still could've came up with something better." Alejandra shrugged with full confidence.

"Of course you do." Lola sighed, exasperated. "But, you have to admit, it was good right?"

"It was." Alejandra admitted with a shrug. "I guess."

Before Lola could retort, Alejandra gasped loudly.

Her friend jumped slightly. "Jesus! What?"

Alejandra stood and gathered her things. "It's really late! I have to get home."

"Why can't you spend the night here?"

Alejandra groaned while stretching. "I promised my mom I'd be at my cousins birthday tomorrow at 11 am, so I need to sleep."

The two friends bid their goodbyes and Alejandra walked out of Lola's house and grabbed her bike from the driveway.

She pedaled her bike through the quiet streets, the cool night air rushing against her skin. Suddenly, the familiar melody of her phone ringing pierced through the silence. Alejandra reached into her pocket and glanced at the caller ID-it was her mom.

Alejandra groaned, and with a quick swipe, she answered the call as she balanced her phone between her ear and shoulder as she continued pedaling.

"Hey, mom." Alejandra greeted, trying to focus on the conversation while keeping her eyes on the road ahead.

"Ally, where are you?!" Her mother said with a raised voice though she could hear the worried tone. "It's late!"

"Sorry, I lost track of time. I'll be there soon." Alejandra assured her, the girls attention divided between the conversation and the path ahead.

"It's dangerous for you to be out at night! Where are you? Your dad and I are coming to get you."

"But, I'm like ten minutes away." Alejandra attempted to explain, but her mother persisted. The girl sighed, though in her head of course, she wasn't that stupid.

Lost in thought, Alejandra somewhat disregarding her mother's ranting, was oblivious to the fact that the pedestrian sign remained red. She continued pedaling until a loud screech jolted her attention.

With widened eyes, Alejandra turned her head just in time to see a speeding car hurtling towards her.

But that was all the time she had as before she could react, everything went dark...
