Nearly two months now, two months of this silence. This silence that was like a blaring siren in your mind, the silence that had been having you doubt yourself and your entire relationship. Two months of this silence from your boyfriend. Michael had been going out practically every night, not coming home until three in the morning. Even when he was home, he barely even spoke to you. It was like you had completely disappeared from his life, you were invisible to him. He payed you no mind, and you didn't know what to think of it. When you and Michael had first started going out, it was like a fairytale. He had been so loving, always stayed by your side whenever he could, appreciating every bit of you. But now, the boy who you thought was the love of your life, hadn't touched you in weeks. And you weren't sure if you could take it much longer.

Tonight was the night when you were planning on doing it, you couldn't go back now. The reservations at the restaurant were set, you had made sure that Michael had the night completely open so he couldn't bail. This was the night you were going to end it, it had to be done. You were doing him a favor, he obviously wanted out of this relationship. He had been so distant and cold, you knew this is what he wanted.

Staring back at your reflection, you resisted the urge to cry, knowing it would mess up your makeup if you let yourself break down again. The white of your crop top revealed only a sliver of your midriff as the white fabric hugged your upper torso, a sweetheart neckline at the top while your deep blue high low skirt flowed behind you. Your fingers skimmed over your chest where the heart shaped locket hung loosely around your neck. Michael had gotten it to you for your one year anniversary, so that "when you breathe, you can feel my heart against yours." You fumbled to open it, seeing the picture of Michael and you grinning wildly at each other. You remembered when the photo was taken, someone in the park had seen you and offered to take a picture, claiming the moment was too beautiful not to capture.

You dropped it back against your chest, making sure your hair was behind you when you walked out to Michael who was in the bathroom, fixing his hair. This was the moment you had been anticipating, how he would react to you after you had gotten all dolled up for him. Some may call it a make or break moment, some may call it unfair, but honestly, Michael had left you no choice.

Placing your hand on his shoulder he turned slightly, brushing you off as per usual.

"How do I look?" You smiled warmly, hiding the sorrow you felt in your heart as you did a small spin.

When you had looked back at Michael, he simply looked back into the mirror and shook up his hair a bit more. Your face fell, he hadn't even given you a second glance. He didn't care. He didn't care about you, how you looked, how you felt. He just wasn't interested. That was what made up your mind.

You took the cab to the nice restaurant, silence hanging over the vehicle while Michael didn't look at you a single time, keeping his gaze down at his phone. Once at the restaurant, you stated your name as they brought you to the roof, the table you had picked to do the thing you had been thinking about for months. He wants this, you had to keep reminding yourself, this is what he chose. You have to do it, for him.

As the waitress left, you looked up at Michael who had been staring down at his menu. You noticed you the sunset was reflecting across his face, making him look near angelic. It was this that you wished you didn't have to give up, waking up to see the sun on his face or going out to the beach while the bright glow tinted his skin.

"I'm gonna go down to the bar, do you want anything?" You asked in a small voice before placing your napkin on the table and standing up.

"Get me a beer?" Your boyfriend replied, in more of a command than a questioned. You huffed as you walked away, down the stairs and towards the counter. If you were going to do this without breaking down in front of him, in a public place, you were going to need a drink first.
