** ADHYAY 1 - THE PREPARATION **

"May I come in your highness?" I asked as I knocked on Adi's door.

"Yes, come in," Adi replied and I stepped in to see him examining his weapons, putting them one by one. A couple of knives on each of his sleeves, a couple of knives near his ankles, two swords into the sheeths attached to the back of his armour, his carrier of arrows to his right and his bow to his left.

"No one around Nandu bhaiyya," he stated as I looked around to make sure none of his helpers are watching before I address him as Adi.

"...and my crown is on me," he said the moment I took a step towards him.and quickly grabbed his metal crown which is only used during battles for additional protection.

King of the Nine Kingdoms.....

He has 7 weapons on him......and an armour.....

I have absolutely no weapons on me....yet he pretends to be scared....

Dramatic chameleon!

"Stop pretending like I am some evil monster trying to hurt an innocent child," I said frustrated as I walked closer.

"Nobody needs to pretend the truth," he countered and I rolled my eyes.

"I just need to check a couple of things," I said as I held his hand and looked at his premachihnam making sure it is tight enough to not fall off inbetween battles.

"Oh," Adi said sarcastically, "You wanted to check if my chains are intact enough to keep me restrained!"

"Adi..." I sighed.

"Don't talk to me," he said pulling his hand away and looking sideways like a little kid.

"You are being childish," I stated.

"Obviously bhaiyya," he said angrily, "and for the right reasons, "My own brother thinks that I am some evil devil who needs to be contrained in order to prevent destruction."

There we go again, Adi with his tantrums....

"That is not true," I said patiently, "I do think you need to be contrained, not because you are some devil but because should you choose, you have the power to cause absolute destruction and isn't the ability to refrain oneself from causing harm the first rule of being a true warrior? And if Vaishu's chunni is going to make it easier to keep your mind at peace, what is wrong with having that on your hand?"

He fell silent thinking.

"Are you going to back me up when I tell Vaishu this story?" he asked after a while, "are you going to tell her that I am the best husband in the world?"

No way! What if Sruthi hears that!

I am the best husband in the world!

"If not I will..."

"Fine," I said holding Adi's hand once again, "but only if my princess is not around."

"Your princess?" Adi smiled teasingly, "Who is your princess bhaiyya?"
