"Is he okay?!" My voice cracks

"Chae, come on, you shouldn't be in here."

I feel hands on my shoulders, trying to push me out of the infirmary, but I push back "IS HE OKAY!" This time my alpha voice comes out, forcing at least one person to answer me.

Yoongi steps in front of me – the only one mostly immune to my alpha voice – and cups my cheeks "The doc is working on him now. He will come to us when he has something to tell us. Right now he doesn't have anything to tell us." Yoongi swipes his thumbs across my cheeks, wiping away tears. "You need to leave and let him work."

I let Yoongi guide me out of the building, but we only make it as far as outside before I completely break down. Yoongi crouches down with me, holding me against him as I sob.

"It's my fault. I should've seen it coming, stopped it! Something!"

Yoongi shushes me "It is not your fault Chaeyeon."

"I stood there and did nothing! I watched as Jiseok tossed him through a grouping of trees and broke almost every bone in his body!"

"There was nothing you could do, his brother had you in some kind of physical and mental control. You literally couldn't move Chaeyeon." Yoongi tries to reason with me, but I'm too hysterical.

"I should have done something." I whisper through my sobs, curling further into Yoongi.

-----------------------------

Yoongi and I ended up leaning against the side of the infirmary building. Yoongi tried to get me to at least go sit in the house, but I refused, not wanting to move until Heesung comes out and tells me that he is okay.

I don't know exactly how long it's been, but it's now dark outside. My mother has tried to get me to eat at least twice, both times I refused. Eventually the door opens and my head shoots up, looking over to see Heesung, who looks exhausted.

"He's okay. He'll be out of it for a little while, but he'll be fine."

I shoot up from the ground, aiming for the door way, but Heesung steps in my way. "Be gentle, his bones are still fragile. And watch the stitching on his stomach, if it tears it will only cause more problems for him."

"I'll make sure she's careful." Yoongi voices behind me, his hand coming to rest on my lower back.

Heesung steps to the side to let me in. The sight of him laying on the bed, panting in pain, and a bright jagged line across his abdomen, almost causes me to hit the ground again. "I'm so sorry." I whisper, fresh tears hitting my cheeks.

Hyunwoo smiles at me through his gritted teeth "It's not your fault Chaeyeon. I could feel his hold on you, on me. Making you stand there and watch, making me lay there and let it happen."

I sit down in the chair that was left next to his bed, carefully taking his already healed hand "I'm still sorry. I brought this on you, on the pack. I knew he would retaliate."

"We all knew. We agreed to the plan because it was the best course of action. You aren't to blame for this. I'd much rather it be me in this bed instead of you, which is what would've happened if I hadn't jumped in front of you. You are my alpha Chaeyeon, and it's my job to protect you." Hyunwoo speaks slowly, his breathing fast and shallow.

"Thank you for that." Yoongi whispers, but we both heard him.

Hyunwoo's eyes move to my mate and he carefully nods "You almost lost it when she broke her leg and you hadn't even accepted each other yet. I couldn't imagine the torture it would be for you if it was her in this bed."
