Fated Alphas

"Ready to head out?" Uncle Jihoon asks

"As ready as I can be I guess. These meetings are boring and normally useless. All I'll hear today is 'I'm sorry for your loss'. Not exactly how I want to be spending my time."

My uncle chuckles "Well it is now part of the role you have to play. Me and Chanyeol will be there. So it's not all bad."

"Let's just go before I make the mistake of not showing up at all."

We leave the house, meeting Chanyeol and Chaewon outside, who are already waiting in their wolf forms. My uncle and I shift, Chanyeol and my sister moving to flank me while Uncle Jihoon moves behind us and then we take off in the direction of the Kim lands where the council meetings are held.

We shift back about half a mile before the border and walk the rest of the way, from here we can smell the strong scents of all the wolves attending this meeting and I crinkle my nose as I get used to mix. My uncle steps beside me before we cross the border and we stop for a minute "Today is just a formality to welcome you as the new alpha, it is more a social event than anything else unless someone is having issues."

"I know."

"So just look like you care please. And if the Min wolf is what we think he is you need to let me know so that we can get you out of here as quickly as possible."

"Will do. Can we get this over with now?"

He nods and moves back behind me and we cross the border, quickly finding the large group of wolves seated in one large circle, separated by pack. Our spot along with the Min pack spot is still empty but before we can sit I have the Kim alpha in front of me.

"My condolences for you father Chaeyeon."

I nod stiffly "Thank you Alpha Kim."

"He was a good man and a great alpha. You will do good in his place, I can feel it." The older man smiles at me.

"I hope I stand up to the man and alpha he was."

"You can go ahead and sit, as soon as the Min pack arrives we will get started." He motions to where we normally are.

"Thank you Alpha Kim." I bow my head slightly and Alpha Kim steps to the side so we can pass him.

"And Chaeyeon." He stops us.

I pause and look at him "Yes."

"You are a pack alpha now. You don't need to be so formal, call us by our first names."

"Will do Jeongho."

He smiles and nods so we proceed to our seats. Chaewon being my Beta, sits next to me, and my uncle and cousin sit behind us, but slightly to the side so they can still see our surroundings. I can feel the eyes of all the packs on me and I look around, Choi Minho is the one paying me the least attention. The Choi pack is probably the most peaceful, they mind their own and in turn we all mind ours when it comes to them.

There are a few Choi's in the Park pack. Every pack is a mix, some left because of their mates, other left for their own personal reasons, some were exiled for old rules that we no longer honor. When Minho feels my gaze and looks over, he gives me a polite nod, an acknowledgement of my new title as well as my father's death. I nod back at him and drop his gaze. Next to the Choi pack is the Jung pack. Their alpha, Jinwoon, is already looking at me, his gaze curious.

The Jung pack is a little less peaceful than the Choi pack, they are more willing to get involved in pack wars, but they do their best to keep to themselves. When my eyes meet Jinwoon, he gives me the same nod that Minho did that I return.
