"AAAHHHH, YOU BITCH!!"
People were flooding into the Safe Zone left and right...
But not everyone was being let in.
It was a war in itself to get in.
If you weren't of use or managed to get in before reaching the 100k capacity limit, then you were pretty much left to fight for a spot inside.
- Y/N POV -
"We have many injured and a few going crazy. We can't guarantee your little friend's safety but we can guarantee yours," Our capturer was explaining as we walked through the apocalyptic scene in front of us.
I should've known that something like this would happen. I should have expected it. Especially, after all the fighting we had to do to get here...
But I didn't...
For some reason, I didn't expect this.
There were people screaming and crying in pain all over the place. Some were mere children who barely looked legal enough to even be inside VRU.
"We have no idea how our injuries inside VRU affect us in the real world, but I'm afraid that if we don't treat them it will have serious consequences," The Leader, Minnie, continued on.
"I have a similar worry," I coldly responded as I looked to the side of me.
Hanni avoided my gaze by looking down at her feet.
I could tell she was tired and she felt a bit embarrassed about everything, but this wasn't the time for that.
"What I don't understand is how this many people could be suffering from injuries and side effects in the Safe Zone?" I took a deep breath as I took in the screams and sights of pain.
"That's because it's not stable. The safeguards fried when the solar flare hit. Several satellites also fell in that moment so the system can't operate to its full capacity," Minnie explained.
"And how would you know that?" Hanni seemed very snappy.
"My parents were on an emergency conference call before I got sucked back in," Minnie gave Hanni a distasteful look.
It looked like Hanni and Minnie knew each other.
"I take it you two know each other," I stepped up to break the tension.
"Minnie is the daughter of one of the politicians who voted into making VRU a worldwide thing," Hanni explained as she grabbed my arm.
"It was for the best-"
"Ooww," She suddenly mumbled.
"Are you alright?" I looked at her really worried.
"I-I'm fine," Hanni started struggling with her words.
"If this server isn't really stable then why is it being advertised as such?" I tightened my jaw as I glared at Minnie-ssi.
I had a strong hatred towards anyone who was responsible for this happening. Minnie seemed to be a VRU sympathizer and I wasn't for that.
