At the top station of the Coastal Midland Branch, there is a mini railway. Smaller than the Talyllyn Railway! In fact, the engines that run it are so small, their drivers stand above their cabs!

The first of these engines does the first passenger runs in the morning. His name is Matt.

"Ridiculous!" said Ryan, "One small bump, and they fuss all over me!! I wasn't even-"

"Ryan!" said a stern voice, "That's enough!! We don't want you straining yourself when you take your train."

The voice belonged to Dutchess, the most level headed of the fleet.

Nearby, the resident Diesel, Norman, was shunting some mineral trucks over the standard gauge line, as he said, "You call a burst safety valve, a snapped coupling, bent pistons, and busted boiler, fine!?"
