Belle was sent to work at the Quarry on Thomas' Branchline, where she met up with Mavis.

Mavis is a British Rail (BR) Class 04 0-6-0 diesel locomotive, specifically the BR Class 04's that worked on the Wisbech and Upwell Tramway, as they were fitted with additional cowcatchers and side plates so they could run near public roads.
However, there were three other faces that seemed to not be all too welcoming.

The other three diesels were class 08 shunters, one was fully black, and the other two had hazard yellow and black stripes, with the label 'Sodor Ironworks'.
"Hello there!" said Belle, "You must be Mavis."
"I am," said Mavis, "Welcome to Ffarquhar Quarry."
"Thank you," said Belle, "Been ages since I worked in a quarry. I imagine it's not that different from a coal mine?"
"A bit different," said Mavis, "But I'm sure you'll get used to it."
Belle got to work, and moved trucks in their places, and taking a few trains down the line.
Just then, the black diesel rolled up along side Belle.
"I see that the Fat Controller has acquired another out of date steamer," said Diesel.
Belle looked at Diesel, and said, "Shut up, you black weasel!"
Diesel growled, "I am no weasel!! I am revolutionary!!"
