Chapter 7: It's Not Getting Better
Chan was torn. As soon as he went back to the door with Felix, it was way too quiet with only the sound of a movie playing in the living room. It was pretty unusual for the dorm to be this quiet that even a tired Felix couldn't help but let out a questioning hum.
He first notices Jeongin and Seungmin hanging around the living room, seeming to be holding a secret meeting similar to when they are planning something mysterious. However, they seem to be too serious for that. Then he hears someone knocking on a door and hearing Minho telling Jisung to get out and eat something.
"You're home, hyung." Changbin was the first to greet him as he noticed him on the way out of the kitchen with a glass in hand.
"Where's Hyunjin?" It was the first thing that Chan asked, he knew that Jisung was here which meant that Hyunjin should also be here.
Changbin sighed, "Well..."
"Jisung's been vague about it." Minho appears, "Hyunjin's still at his parent's house and Changbin contacted him as soon as we knew that Jisung had been here."
Chan furrowed his eyebrows, "What do you mean he has been here?" As far as Chan left them, he encouraged that the both of them leave together. He even said his goodbye before they traveled. He made sure that they were together.
"That's- That's the thing, hyung. I don't know how long he has been outside but I had just gotten home, thinking I'll be the first since I have the keys but I saw him there with his suitcase and everything." Minho is in distress. "He has been crying! He'd been crying, hyung. He didn't say anything and immediately locked himself inside when I went to open the door. He'd been there for hours, hyung!" Minho never imagined that he would be coming home with Jisung crying and shivering outside their dorm, waiting for them to come home without knowing when. Who knows how long he has been sitting there? He wants to confront Hyunjin and demand all answers but he doesn't want to jump to conclusions.
Changbin raised his hand, "Hyunjn didn't explain anything either but from what I got, I think he and Jisung got into an argument. No physical fight or anything, I... I think they've gone too far with their words. I don't want to pick sides without knowing the whole story..."
"No one's picking sides," Chan stated. "We'll talk to them."
"I thought it's going well..." Felix trails off, his eyes shining with sadness. "I mean, yeah, it's not like their friends friends but they were getting better. Their relationship was getting better than before."
Chan ran his hand through his hair, dropping his luggage by the maknaes. "How about this. We wait for Hyunjin and we will all talk. Bin-ah, did Hyunjin say when he'll come home?"
"He says that he'll come home by dinner but didn't specify anything else." Chan nodded, "Hyung... How are we going to approach this?"
"We still have a few days of rest, we'll talk this all out and everything will get better, okay?" He assured them, "I'll talk to Sung before Hyunjin gets here. Now go and rest." They all seemed hesitant before they started moving and forced themselves to focus away from the problem at hand. Which proved to be difficult.
He goes towards where Minho immediately went as soon as they dissipated. He gestured at the door and Minho sighed, "No luck." Chan smiled sadly at him and patted his shoulder, telling him to go with the others.
Minho didn't seem to like the idea, but with one last look at the door, he left to go to the living room. Probably waiting for Jisung to get out of his room.
"Sung?" Chan knocked, waiting for a reply. He could hear shuffling on the other side of the door but nothing else. "Han-ah, it's Chan-hyung. Can I come in?" A sound of sniffling before the door unlocks and opened slightly, inviting Chan to come inside.
He entered the room, closing the door behind him to have their privacy. He took in Jisung's form, which was wrapped around in a blanket as he walked around the room.
"What happened?" He asked softly. Jisung's lips trembled as if he was forcing himself not to cry, he looked towards Hyunjin's side of the room and shook his head as a refusal to answer his question. "I'll wait until you're ready."
A beat of silence before Jisung suddenly let out a heartwrenching sob, he threw himself towards Chan and clutched him tightly. "I- I can't do this anymore, hyung. I took your words and- and he was being... difficult. I can't do this at all, hyung." Jisung cries, stumbling over his words.
Chan runs his fingers through Jisung's hair, his other hand rubbing circles on his back. "It's okay... Maybe, it's just a misunderstanding, yeah?"
"You don't understand, hyung!" Jisung burst out, "I know him and- and he's... he's the worst." Chan doesn't know what he meant by that.
"Sung-ah..."
Just in time, Hyunjin enters the room. Jisung stiffened upon seeing him, hiding himself more in the blanket that he had wrapped around him.
"Hyungs told me to come find you, Chan-hyung." His eyes flicker to Jisung before moving back to Chan. "Should I...?" He gestured towards the door.
"Uh..." He wants to talk to Hyunjin but he can't leave Jisung and he doesn't think that Jisung will appreciate it if he lets Hyunjin stay.
Jisung moves in Chan's arms, his eyes peeking behind the blanket and looking over to Hyunjin. Chan sees the guilt flash by Hyunjin's eyes before it's gone and hardens with anger and irritation.
"Leave. It's what you're always best at." Chan feels that there's so much more to those words that hide the true feelings of it. Hyunjin took a deep breath, his eyes narrowing at him.
"Stop throwing this at me." Hyunjin starts and before Chan can chastise them from starting another fight, Jisung turns completely towards Hyunjin with his eyes blazing with fire.
"You're the one that..." Jisung clenched his jaw, finding the right words to say. "You're the most insufferable person that I ever met. I was the one trying to make a change. I try to be understanding yet you're always making everything difficult!" He lashes out and Chan doesn't have the time to stop him before he pounces at Hyunjin. They both fall on the floor as Jisung repeatedly slams his fist on Hyunjin's chest.
"Jisung-"
"I trusted you."
Chan felt the pain a million times from those words. Hyunjin held Jisung's wrists as he struggled on top of him, Jisung gripped Hyunjin's collar tightly. Their hands shook with all the emotions that they were feeling.
"I did too." Hyunjin answered, his eyes saying millions of emotions that Chan couldn't understand.
Jisung's body shook with so much anger building up inside of him that Chan had to hover above them if he ever tried to punch Hyunjin. He startles when Jisung yells with his whole chest, getting off of Hyunjin and pulling himself away. His breath is heavy, his tears continuing to run down his face.
It was a sight that broke their hearts. It was the vulnerable side that he doesn't often let anyone see.
"Hyunjin. Jisung." He called yet they didn't move, keeping their eyes on each other's movements. "Why don't we talk everything out in the living room? If it makes you all the better, we'll have everyone." Hyunjin was the first to break eye contact, nodding slowly and pushing himself off of the floor. He leaves one last look to Jisung before going out of the room where the other members are apparently listening in.
"You guys..." Chan shook his head as they sheepishly smiled. He turns his attention to Jisung. "You wanna-"
"I'll be in the living room. Can you... Can you please leave me for a few minutes?" Chan nods, giving him the space that he needs. Before he leaves, he hears Jisung say. "Thank you, hyung."
