Chapter 12: Eavesdropping
After a lot of talk, they finally get to have a day off. Something that they don't often experience so having this day by themselves was enough for the members to plan something to do outside. Jisung decided to take this time to relax by himself as everyone else went out.
It was around noon when Jisung decided to get up from his bed and wash up. He plans to stay home, hearing the silence in the dorm unnerves him but also eases his mind. He tends to get overwhelmed when there's too much happening and this was his day by himself so he will get what he can get.
As he stepped out of the bathroom, he bumped into Hyunjin, startled that he was even there in the first place.
"Sorry." Hyunjin sheepishly smiles, "My friend canceled on me so I just went home instead." Jisung frowns at that, it also wasn't always that Hyunjin hung out with his friends but he knows that he hates it when people cancel on him at the last minute.
"It's all good." He was going to step aside for Hyunjin to go to the bathroom before he paused and made up his mind.
"Want to watch a movie?" Hyunjin looks back, his dejected mood lighting up at that idea. He nods happily at Jisung.
"Yeah!" Hyunjin enthusiastically said, "I mean... yeah, of course." He tones it down, noticing his way too happy mood to be with Jisung. That idea that they're going to watch a movie again, together, is enough to make him feel as if they have never gone through a break-up.
"Okay, cringy romantic movies?" They laugh at that, knowing full well that they will bash the hell out of those movies again.
"Definitely, I'll go out after I wash up."
"Alright, I'll look for movies and you want take out?"
"Can we get chicken?" He lets out a puppy eye
"And cheesecake for dessert?" Hyunjin laughs, putting out a thumbs before he goes inside the bathroom. Jisung stood still for a few minutes before he punched the air in happiness and skipped towards the living room to ready for their movie marathon.
It feels as if Jisung is courting Hyunjin again, just like before, but this time he is prepared and he gets to finally spoil Hyunjin with everything that he wants.
When Hyunjin comes out to the living room, he notices the extra pillows and blanket on the couch. He laughs lightly at this, making Jisung look up from his phone. "You're pretty ready huh?"
"Just as you like it!" Jisung puffs out his cheeks.
"...Yeah." His heart jumps at the fact that Jisung still remembers his preferences, he sits down and pulls a blanket over him as he looks at the TV as there is still no movie pulled up. "Want me to pick the movie?"
Jisung flushes, "Oh sorry! I was busy looking at the menu for our take-out..."
"It's fine!" Hyunjin smiles at him, "I can pick for us. I have some in mind so don't worry." Jisung nods at this, focusing back in order as Hyunjin searches for the movies that he remembers the name of.
"The food will come in like 20 minutes, want to start watching or should we wait?"
"Let's start watching, we can pause it." Jisung nodded and slumped down on the couch, Hyunjin made himself comfortable and played the movie, already ready to comment on whatever.
A few minutes in, Hyunjin and Jisung are already commenting on this. "Oh she definitely mad and he's asking what he done wrong." Hyunjin laughs.
"Push him, dude!" Hyunjin called the male lead out, "These people are dumb."
They sat in silence for a bit as they let the scene roll out from the female and male lead arguing. This scene is a bit too familiar to them, "Isn't this the one that you called that the male is definitely gay?" Hyunjin cackles and points at Jisung.
"Oh my God! It definitely is. I didn't know this was one of the movies we watched before."
"It didn't seem familiar at the start, but it is now. Wasn't this also the one that you predicted that he's going to leave the girl and get on with the girl's brother?" They snicker before they burst out laughing at the idea.
"It's so silly but it's fun watching them fight only for the guy to end up with her brother."
"Gay rules!"
They laugh again, their stomach hurting from their laughter. They stay for a while like that before they stifle their laughs and end up in silence with tears in their eyes from all that laughing.
"Oh God, I miss watching these romantic movies with you."
"I definitely do too. It's the same as when we were dating." They sat there for a while, letting the words marinate over them. "Have you... Have you watched movies when we broke up?" Jisung frowns and looks away.
"I couldn't watch them without you... It felt like I was betraying you somehow."
"I couldn't too." Hyunjin swallows down his fear. "I didn't- couldn't watch it because it was only you that I kept thinking about. You were the only one that I can think of when I see a romantic movie."
"I'm sorry again. I know that I said this multiple times but I was the cause of our breakup somehow-"
Hyunjin shushes him. "No, you dumbass. I clearly misinterpreted that you were cheating."
"Bu-"
"You two were dating?" They froze, only the sound of the movie playing in the background as they slowly turned their heads to see Chan and Seungmin by the door.
"You broke up?"
"...Hyung..."
"So, it is true that you two were exes. I knew something was up between you two." Seungmin commented on it.
"Wait-"
"Is that why you two have hated each other? It wasn't just rivalry?" Chan asked, "Why... Why'd you lie about this? You know that we won't hate any of you about this... right?"
"We- we know that, hyung. It's just that... Just..." Jisung started shaking, making Hyunjin get near him to hold his hand.
"We're sorry hyung. We didn't mean to lie but we didn't want to... cause more trouble and I was... scared that you might not accept me."
Chan bolted towards them, pulling both of them in a hug. "It's shock but I'm not mad over anything. I'll keep accepting you two whatever that happens..."
"What if it's illegal?"
Hyunjin snorts as Jisung laughs at that. "Seungmin-ah, if it's illegal. I will personally hand you over to the police."
Seungmin gasps, "Betrayal!"
Chan pays attention to Hyunjin and Jisung. "None of us will hate you two over this. We love you no matter what. Let's not hide secrets again, okay?"
"Sorry again, hyung." Chan smiles and they stay for the hug for a little bit. He pulls in Seungmin a minute later, seeing the latter only standing there and they end up in a cuddle pile.
"So cheating?"
Jisung groans, "Want to talk this over to the others?" Chan asks and they contemplate for a bit before sighing in defeat and nodding at this.
They broke off the hug when the sound of the doorbell rang. Jisung coughed, "I think our food just got here."
