(Jasmine POV)

"Murdered?" I gasped, my voice barely above a whisper. She nodded solemnly. "In cold blood. Funny enough, you'd think he'd realize he and Scarlet were simply never going to work. But no," she continued, calmly pulling out needles for her knitting.

"Your friend is in grave danger, and so are you," she stated matter-of-factly, her words sending a chill down my spine.

Me?

What the hell have I done?

"Why me?" I stammered, my mind racing with fear and confusion.

"Those Windsors are batshit insane. It didn't even make sense why Warren killed my son, my baby, just for supposedly flirting with Scarlet. It's simply his nature," she explained, her voice tinged with bitterness.

"What... what can I do?" I stuttered, feeling utterly helpless.

"My guess is to tell your friend, Y/N was it, to get mighty comfortable. She's going to be there for a while," she said grimly, confirming my worst fears.

Oh my God, Y/N is never coming back. Jesus Christ. Panic surged through me, and I started pacing around the room.

"This can't be happening," I muttered to myself, feeling overwhelmed by the gravity of the situation.

"But... I guess there's something you can try," she offered, her tone softening slightly.

I looked up at her, desperate for any shred of hope.

"You see, I worked there, well, my whole family did since they even became a company... and my father used to say how it never made sense how they were able to bring in so much money so fast," she explained, her eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and resignation.

"They're doing illegal activity? Maybe I can use that to try and get Y/N back," I suggested, grasping at straws.

She shook her head solemnly. "Oh no, the Windsors have gotten away with this for years, decades. They're too slick to get caught, and you might even end up dead just for trying to open your mouth about it," she warned, her words hitting me like a ton of bricks.

I slumped onto the floor, feeling defeated. "Yes, I know, frustrating, isn't it?" she remarked, her voice heavy with empathy.

"Yeah..." I murmured, feeling the weight of the world pressing down on me.

"Well, there is someone that can help you... a group out of the city. They're trying to bring the Windsors down for good," she offered, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

"And they can help me?" I asked, my heart pounding with anticipation.

"Yes. When Warren gets his eyes on something, he doesn't let it go. But now the whole family is in on it, they might get sloppy. And if they get sloppy, it'll be more than enough evidence to put them away for good," she explained, her voice filled with determination.

"Who and where are they?" I inquired eagerly, clinging to this newfound lifeline.

"In the big city, here," she said, handing me an old, worn-out card. "Give them a call exactly two days in advance, and they will open it all for you. Besides, it's best if you get out of this town. They might already be coming for you," she warned.

I took the card from her hand, feeling a glimmer of hope amidst the despair.

I left the nursing home and immediately dialed the number on the card as I made my way home.

"Hello?" a voice answered.

"Hello, I'm calling because my friend is in danger with the Windsor family," I said urgently.

"Who is this? How did you get this number?" the voice on the other end demanded.

"I got it from Larra," I explained hastily.

"Hmm, well then, come over, and we can see what we can do," they replied, their tone filled with determination.
